Granted, I'm running this at the same time as oyzar's 18 Monty game (acutally didn't see it at first ), but this one does NOT have random personalities, we have 18 certified lunatics on one map. I also wanted to make this an educational experience for myself, which is easier if my game is the main focus of the thread. Naturally, shadow games are welcome.
This is the game inspired by the "Will the Real Sury Please Stand Up?", only, with Montys, and 18 of them.
It will be bloody, and it should be a whole lot of fun. I actually do NOT anticipate a win here, with the settings, but we'll see.

Here are the game settings:
Civ4ScreenShot0002.jpg

Immortal Difficulty
Normal Speed
Large Donut Map with standard center
No Barbarians (Monty is barbaric enough)
No Tech Trading
No Vassals
No Random Events
No Goody Huts
Aggressive AI
Myself and 17 AI Montezumas.

I chose Immortal because Agg AI and No Tech Trading will hamper tech pace and I want things to be bloody!
I'll also be relying on the great advice I'll doubtless be getting :p

Here is the start, no re-rolls.

So what do you guys think? In place? Seems to be a nice hammer capital, which will help with the huge military spam.
I'm considering making a run at the Pyramids for early Police state, good idea? bad?
Please place all shadow games in spoilers.
Here's the save:

Masochism at it's finest...

Random personalities ruins the fun of having all monties. Let's get it going!

But neither industrious or with stone, I have a feeling going for the pyramids will be very suicidal to your power rating, even with the 25% military production reward.

Yeah, but I think a "rush" for the 'mids isn't really needed. With all montys, I don't expect the wonder to be built too soon... So it should be possible to settle decent amount of cities before bothering with it. When capital is building the 'mids, other cities can produce military.

The start looks good, interesting to see how you can pull this one off.

I would settle on the plains hill.... you may need the extra defense ;)

And there is a small fee problem to be discussed about using my idea ..... ;)

Not if I beat you to the patent office :D

Anyways, good luck with this one, you are most definately going to need it. And a bit more than that. The pState might be a viable option, but I would actually propose early archery here.

Also, they're all gonna have that hidden diplo modifier about similar personality, so it's an uphill run in that area too.

I have proof of earlier idea. Under US and EU laws this means that your patent would not be valid :p

Pretty sure it means you can use idea expressed in the patent... having earlier proof of the idea does not invalidate the patent.

If it were me, I would have unchecked every victory condition but Time so you could be sure to have the "full" 460 turns. I guess you could still make that a variant rule.

I'll try to give some not-so-sagely advice. I couldn't handle this if I tried... :(

Anyways, good luck, and if I see something that no one else has mentioned, I'll ask about it.

First tech should be Archery. Then Mining-BW-IW?

I will be getting this underway tomorrow.
I'm thinking this will be easier than your typical immortal game because of the tech trading limitation and also that Monty is a bad techer in general.
We may be able to play the diplo situation pretty well here with some deft religion changing and resource trades. What we don't want is the 17 Monty dogpile :p

oh god blue WHY BLUE

Looks interesting, though.

I'm playing a "shadow game", on a different map, but same settings. Except only win conditions are Conquest (Eliminate the confusion by force) or spaceship (get the hell off that horrible world). It didn't go too well.

I started in a pretty good position, with a lake, a fish, a clam, and some copper in the BFC. But, unfortunately, I was squeezed in by Monty (to the West) and Monty (to the east), leaving me with a resource-less, jungle infested rock.

I then pulled a monty, and declared on Monty, razing Monty's first two cities (one had gold, but it was 1 square away from also netting copper and rice). Then Monty declared on me, so I bribed Monty into war with Monty, but then Monty declared war on Monty.

I sent a settler to get the gold Monty used to have, but a barbarian settled right there, so I sent my veteran axes to take the city. All three lost with 75%~ odds, so I was wide open to attack. 9/12 Monties attacked me. I tried to defend as best I could, but Monty took my two cities to the south, Monty took one of my cities to the North, and Monty took the other. I was reduced to my capital, with Monty's, Monty's, Monty's, Monty's, Monty's, and Monty's stacks closing in. I then quit, and pulled out my hair.

First game I ever lost on Noble. Thanks for ruining my self esteem, shwartz. Thanks.
