This is a thread for my ongoing project to recreate foot units of World War II. As I create American units they will be added to this thread. Other countries will have their specific threads. I'll also have one catchall thread for any miscellaneous units which don't need a whole thread for themselves.

=================M-1 Garand Pack (8/28/08)===================

Spoiler :
The first pack to feature is the US Garand Pack, 6 units firing the Garand rifle, including:

Pacific Marine
Pacific Ranger (Also could be used as a Marine Raider)
Paratrooper (Also could be used as Pacific theater rifleman)
Rifleman wearing camo (can be used in either Pacific or European theaters. The camo was used in Normandy for a while until it became evident that the camo confused men who thought it looked like German camo)
Two European theater riflemem.

Thank you Ares de Borg for the rifle attack sound, Vuldacon for the paradrop sound and Bjornlo for the Ranger's hat!

Very nicely done!
I must say, I do like your paradrop anim... it's alot better than what you showed in your poll thread.

Thanks TopGun! I'm a little suprised myself at how much better it turned out than my first paratrooper's drop. I think the key is it's a bit shorter animation than the other paradrop so there isn't as much time to pick up on flaws in the chute. :)

excellent stuff you got there Gary. :goodjob:

Unbelieveable, I thought I don't need more Americans, but these are very compelling.

I wonder whats your next pack...

I finally got some temp work thrown my way by my employment agency (It's about time!). So the unit making is going to slow a little, however, I'll try to pump out a pack over the 3 day weekend. I'll see if I can put together some German units. Although this isn't the end of the Americans by far. I still have the Thompson submachine gun, M1 Carbine, BAR and M3A1 "grease gun" to do packs on. I'm also going to see if I can get hold of an M1903 springfield rifle and do some early US infantry.

These are nice units, I told you not to quit ;)

One minor thing though - is it me, or are they missing the W direction? All others seem to be in, NW, SW, but not the W?

Edit: Forget it, I just checked in Flicster. Animation Shop doesn't show the W animation, but Flicster does.

Yes, some Weapon variations and these guys are perfect :goodjob:

I'm working on the run animation for a German pack. I've been studying the run animation for NavyDawg's French Marine and I think I have an idea of how the machanics of a natural looking run work now. Up until now most of my run animations have just been shuffling legs and arms. I'm trying to incorporate more of a peddaling motion into it now.

Below are before and after animations for my run. The left is before and the right is after.

I think maybe he was running too fast for the game so I slowed him down a little by shortening his stride some. Also I've created a more dynamic fidget for this pack.
