When I build my Settler I scour the map for a good location to send him. One of the prime considerations, of course, is the available resources - especially ones I don't already have.

In my current game (Calabim, Huge Fantasy Map, Epic speed), I built my Settler and could not find any locations with resources I didn't think I had already. I opened up my resource window, and, damn if I didn't have every resource...except Sheep.

So, the Great Sheep Hunt began, and, no, I am not that kind of guy!

I found a Sheep resource, but it was in Doviello territory and I didn't want to declare war. No problem, in a few turns Mahala declared war on me. I had to rub out a couple of her cities, but then I took the city close to my borders with the Sheep resource.

I had managed to get all the resources in my game - I don't think I have ever done that before. There 's your challenge. (I did not have the hell terrain resources as I shut that feature off).

OK, it depends on the size and type of map and your game speed, and luck is certainly involved.

Of course, I got nothing for this achievement, but I would like to propose a Tower of Resources Wonder (or some other better-sounding thing) that you can build when you manage to secure every resource in the game.

Let's have the builder of the Tower of Resources Wonder gain 25 Gold per turn. I mean if you get something nice for collaring all the critters, you should get something for securing all the resources, right?

Also, you could have special resource achievements: All the grains and you can build a Great Granary, all the livestock, a Great Smokehouse both of which give you extra food in your civ. Nothing for a Great Mine though as you already have the chance of gifted resources with the metals.

OK, that last might be a bit much, but see if you can get all the FFH2 resources in your civ during your next game. :)

tower of resources sounds like a nice idea, you deserve a reward for having such a nice display of resources after all :D great granary and great smokehouse sound kinda nice too, but would probably be way too easy to achieve :D

I propose a new magic item - "I took control of every kind of resources and all I got is this lousy t-shirt" :D

Instead of the tower of resources call it the "Vault of Plenty" and it could provide food, gold, and hammers.

having all resources already provides an empire-wide bonus, i can't really see the need for the additional wonder (could be fun, but make it a module instead (get it added to the wonder pack in the maps n mods section of this forum!))

What's the bonus? You only get what the individual resources normally provide as far as I can see. ;)

Yeah, I know there are probably enough Wonders in the game for now - just trying to add a little spice to the challenge. :)

the bonus is the added happiness and health from the resources obviously ;).

Meh, it'd be a complete 'win more' thing. How rare is it for you to have all the resources, and not be on the edge of a domination victory?

I think something similar to the Magic Towers for resources could be kinda fun. Y'know, a Granary gives a bonus for wheat, corn, and rice, and if you have all three you can build a, um, Bakery that gives like +2 Health and +10% storage on growth, it'd be a spiffy side light. Make trading of resources a bit more appealing.

Z, I guess it depends on your game and the map. With the Huge Fantasy Realm map I was playing I was not even first in total land - I think I was third. It was truly just dumb luck (except for the Great Sheep Hunt ;)) that allowed me to get all the resources. I went on to get a Cultural Victory in that game and was not even close to a Domination Victory.

IMO it's very similar to the Grand Menagerie. Hard to get and you really need a strong element of luck. It would just add a game within a game for the player as the AI would be clueless on it.

not that tough, if you tweak the options a bit ;). Sto's full of resources mapscript, combined with blessings from amatheon and every leader in the game.

The one issue is the easily exploitable trading game. You only need to secure those final few resources for a few turns to be able to build the wonders you are talking about, getting a permanent bonus and then abandoning them. I would support a trophy however.

There is a wonder that gives a bonus for rice, wheat and corn - Deruptus Brewing House. I don't see a reason why not to add one more for sheep, cows and pigs.

I think getting all the resources would be incredibly difficult. Are we including ALL of the resources? Toads, Razorweed, Sheut Stone, Nightmare? What about Pearls? What about Fine Clothes and Fine Jewelry?

I'm sure I've never had a game with ALL the resources.

Picky, but a point. Seems impossible to get EVERY resource.
