Standard size is 84x52.
I used the so-called equirectangular projection, but made Europe slightly larger. The Mediterranean is two tiles more south and Africa is one tile shorter.

Let me know what you think and I might improve the map. :)

Version 1.1: removed Rome.

I like the map, also the fact that Europe is a bit upscaled (would be too small on a standard size map).

I I had the time, I would probably add a few civs (for example there is plenty of room for the americans and also for 1-2 additional european civs, maybe mongols) 11 or 12 seems a good number in total for this map to really get the feeling of an earth map.

Well, a standard sized map has seven civs. I thought Rome couldn't be left out on the map, but I have removed it now after all. Now all civs have about as much room as the others.

This may or may not be a stupid question, but when I choose 'custom scenario' and use your map, it lists the difficulty of Montezuma, the AI at the top of the list, as monarch, while everyone else is listed as noble. Does this mean anything, or is just a bit of a quirk?

when he made the map, he must have changed difficulty settings. this can be changed easliy by opening the WBS with notepad and manually changing the difficulty setting.

Well, that would balance it, I guess. My personal comment would be that it 'dupes' the Civ1 map without adding the benefit of BtS, which is many more civs (for one). On which thought, why not make it a mod where you can select many more civs?

Otherwise, map looks nice.;)

Sorry about the difficulty setting. I'll fix that tonight.

Jeelen, I don't know how to have more/other civs available but not all at the same time. I can only add other civs.

And the map of Civ1 has many flaws. (No New Zealand, South Africa close to Antartica...) But now that you mention it, it does look a lot like that one, I admit. It's just better. :p

Is there an easy way for me to add some more civs in their proper locations for this map? A friend and I would like to try it out but I would probably want to add maybe 3 more civs, two in americas and one back in the old country.

You can open the scenario file with Notepad and see for yourself. There's not an easy or quick way to do that, but it's possible.

Matrix can you add Rome, Carthage, Khmer, and Maya ?

You could renaming civs for add too Aborigen and Majahapit instead of just adding Khmer...

What about Mongolia ?

-----------------------------

Ideas of scenarios with this map :

World 200 AD
World 1000 AD
World 1950 AD
World 2005 AD

You could place two cities at one or zero tile separation, should fit well with not flipping and not razing cities possible...

-----------------------------

Please do not make as mod, but it you could include no dll should be ok...
Its for play on my new sooner iMac...

You could inspiring yourself with abandonned project of VeBear...

-----------------------------

what do you think man ?

-------------------------

EDIT : and if you create a version of your map with free choices of civs ? we would love it ;) ...
I tried but i failed...

A map created on windows 32 or 64 bits can not running on MAC OS X Snow Leopard 32 or 64 bits directly ?

I am using this map (It is fantastic :D) to build my scenarios. because it is only Standard, it won't lag as much as the Huge Earth on old computers.

Thanks a lot for this map!
That's great! Thanks. :)

Perhaps you could upload your blank map for Lachlan. It looks like an impulsive request (since it's a reply to your post), so I'm not tempted to put a lot of work in it.

@Lachlan: I have no idea about this not working on a Mac. I only have a PC...

Thanks ! i will get it :goodjob:

Here an adaptation i made...

I placed 18 Civs, preplaced capitals, religions and some barbarians cities :nuke:

But i have not idea how to place news without breaking the balanced, if anybody could should be wellcome...

Can anyone edit this map so that Antartica doesn't have real land tiles? Currently civs spawn there, which is bad, all that land in Antartica needs to go and be replaced with polar ice as a gameplay consideration.
