Hi everybody,

Frizzimod v2.0 is now available for download.

There are two new leader heads (Charles V, Cardinal Richelieu), four new leader traits (Diplomatic, Daring, Progressive and Informed), a "giant" map size option and "Automatic research" / "Hidden research" game options.

With "Automatic research" turned on, human players will no longer be able to choose by themselves what tech to research next. With "Hidden research", they will not even know what the are currently reseraching and how long it will take.

There will also be a fifth new trait, "Roaring", which will mainly give you 50% more revenue from pillaging. The trait is already working fine, yet the correct parameter balancing has to be tested. So I haven't included it so far.

Hope you enjoy the mod!

Interesting Idea with the Hidden research thing - May I suggest an Alternative?

the player could choose to research a broad tech type - for example: Religious/Military/Economic/Health/social

From their choice a tech is chosen and worked on (and hidden). categories are only available when an appropriate tech is available, and it means that if they concentrate on one category for too long, techs take a long time to appear. Also it gives them some control over their research, without giving it all away.

It an interesting thought. Originally, I wanted to do it in a very similiar way, however I decided not to. That's for two reasons: First, it's much tougher to implement, because you would have to design new interfaces etc. Second, the concept of setting certain research preferences is already realized in the leaderheads themselves. The xml files contain different weighting values for one or two tech categories which make them more probable to be chosen by the given leader. E.g., Genghis Khan has FLAVOR_MILITARY 10, whereas Roosevelt has FLAVOR_PRODUCTION 5 and FLAVOR_GOLD 2.

However, I agree with you that it could be more interesting to have a dynamic change in research preferences in the course of the game. I thought this should more indirect, though: The types of buildings or Great Persons could influence a city's "research tradition" in a certain way, and this could influence the direction of your science work. Btw, similiar to your "Dynamic Traits" idea, which I found very intersting also. I'm quite sure it's doable, only it's a matter of time ... :)

@ kipkuhmi: Good work. Can you put the changed source code files online? Or can you explain me how to change it myself? (Easy explanation please, you can also send me a PM in German.) I am also interested in having more possibilities for leader traits, but I have very rare experience in modifying source code files.

Thanks for the idea. I'm planning to put the changed source code online, because it has already been requested here and there. Plus it's a rather good opportunity to get into programming, as there are easy and complicated ways of changing the source code. E.g., the "roaring" leader trait was astonishingly simple to implement, while the "hidden research" game option was very time consuming.

So it could be a good idea to write some kind of a workshop pdf on this topic. However, it will take some time to accomplish. Let's see what I can do during the next weeks.

Hi fireclaw,
the update to BTS 3.19 exists. In the meantime I've added many, many more things, but there are still some minor things to do. This is mainly concerning translations into English and some missing building 3D graphics. However, I hope to have it ready around Easter.

Here is a glance of what Frizzimod 3.0 will conatin compared to 2.0:

1. New character traits:
-----------------------
ROARING - +1 sight for reconing units, reconing units invisible for other players (not for barbarians and animals), +100% profit from looting and pillaging

MAGNIFICENT - road building +50% faster, cities founded in the Ancient era or later start with size 2

2. New technologies
-------------------
Antimatter, Bionics, Cloning, Clubs and Societies, Complex Algorithms, Empathy, Ethical State, Human Rights, Information Privacy, International Law, Longevity, Nanotubes, Psychology, Quantum Computers, The Secret Of Life, Terraforming

Mp3 quote files in English and German will be included.

3. New victories
----------------

OLYMPIC VICTORY - Players can use the new Great Athlete unit to trigger Olympic Games. The winner of Olympic Games might have the chance to establish a new world record in one of seven disciplines (Running, Riding, Boxing, Swimming, Shooting, Gymnastics and Soccer). To gain a world record for the first time, you simply have to win the Games and have to have researched a given technology (eg. Horseback Riding for Riding, Industrialisation for Soccer). If you want to beat that record and become the new world record holder in this discipline, you have to have won the Games two times in a row. To beat it the next time, you have to have triumphed three times in a row, and so on.

A person achieves an "Olympic Victory" when holding all seven world records, or six out of seven plus having built the Perfect Man world wonder.

The Olympic Games winner is determined randomly, however you can significantly raise your chances by improving your cities' health, contructing certain buildings or being the host of the Games.

PHILOSOPHICAL VICTORY - In order to gain a Philosophical Victory, you have to be the first player to research the "Secret Of Life" technology. This technology can be discovered only by those players who have built the Camelot national wonder.
Camelot is very expensive and can only be built during Golden Ages and only in the capital. Copper, ivory, gold, silver and gem ressources will each power the building speed by 10%.

4. New civilizations
------------------

The Latin American civilization will be new to the game, with Fidel Castro, José Marti and San Martin as leaders. The special unit is the guerilla, the special building the Hacienda, which will replace the bank.

5. New promotions
------------------

PATRIOTISM I, II and III will strengthen a units combat value when the combat is taking place on its home soil.

CYBER ATTACK / CYBER DEFENSE will give the attacker / defender a 10% chance to make mechanized enemy units leave the opponents ranks and join your side instead at the beginning of a battle

SNEAKING will make reconing and naval units invisible to other players (but not barbarians or animals).

6. New units
------------

There will be several new units (most of them future untis). The Militia unit will be available after having discovered the Clubs and Societies technology. It will be a cheap unit with free PATRIOTISM I and II promotion. Additionally and more intriguingly, the enemy unit will not gain any experience points when attacked by a militia unit.

7. New buildings
---------------

GYM HALL (requires Clubs and Societies) - more Olympic points, +1 happiness, +25% city defense

FAMILY CENTER (Longevity) - +100% Great Persons

DATA CENTER (Inform. Privacy) - more trading routes, better protection against espionage

MEETING PLACE (Empathy) - + 200% votes for any UN / Apost. Palace votings

SIMULATION CHAMBER (Complex Algorithms) - +6 experience points for new units

INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL (Human Rights) -the city's strongest foreign culture will raise the science value (eg. 23 % Babylonian culture --> 23% better research)

PROPAGANDA BUREAU (Psychology) - more culture, -50% risk of city revolt

SPORT SCHOOL (Construction, 6 Colloseums) - free Great Athlete unit

8. New world wonders / national wonders / world projects
-------------------------------------------------------

THE PERFECT MAN (WW, Genetics) - Free, uncontestable world record

UTOPIA (WW, Ethical State) - Free Great Person, free choice which Great Persons will be born in your cities

TERRACOTTA ARMY (WW, Feudalism) - +50% Olympic points for Olympic Games on your home soil

EINSTEIN ROSEN BRIDGE (2 x WW, Complex Algorithms) - Unlimited number of airlifts from one portal to the other, without loss of movement points. The two portals must be built on different continents.

DOGE'S PALACE (WW, International Law) - No enemy units can enter the city radius

OKTOBERFEST (WW, Clubs and Socities) - +3 popularity with all known state leaders

THE CLONE CONTAINER (WW, Cloning) - City grows by +1 each turn

AREA 51 (NW, Information Privacy, 12 barracks) - +100% starship production in this city, no enemy espionage in this city

OLYMPIC SANCTUARY (NW, Priesthood) - get a free Great Athlete unit with +2% probability per turn

SETI (WP, Quantum Computers) - +50% starship speed

9. Other stuff
-------------

Of course Frizzimod 3.0 will include all 2.0 features, like Hidden Research, diplomatic/daring/informed character trait etc.

All this is practically ready and has been tested quite often. As I said, I hope it will be available for download in, say, three weeks or so.
