Here is a nice map I made but game is broken

Attached is a map and screenshot if anyone can make it work. As others have stated there seems to be an issue where you cannot make your own scenario, if the game does not launch with an empty map (and is thus filled in by the SDK?) then the AI is broken and its ships will roam the oceans for awhile then disappear (Europe maybe?)

Its pretty sad when I find a Civ game heavily discounted on the first week of release. I was determined not to buy it until patches had come out but since it was cheap, what the hell. As with its Civ predecessors, Col offers the most ineptly designed historical maps imaginable.

While the random maps are enjoyable (and evidently all I can play at the moment), when you play a historical map you expect that either the game will place civ's in their appropriate positions or will allow you to do so.

Made a version for Dale's mod as well so as to include the portugese but AI seems to be broken unless game is initiated by the generator. Does not appear possible to construct scenarios as it currently is.

Note: I have not gotten to actually play the game yet...so when you get the map if you can make it work somehow, remember you will probably need to redo resource placement a bit. I have no clue about the Col mechanics and just sort of placed things to fill in the map. All the native civs are placed in roughly the proper locations but they probably need more towns/units.

Fixed. Seems you can't have set Civs in set locations.

Appreciate you looking at that Dale, but I'm looking to make a set, quasi-historical map. I need the ability to set civs up in set locations.

To me there are two options here. Either an arrogant developer decided that his 'vision' for the game did not involve people being able to make their own scenarios...or this is an unintended side effect of some function in the SDK that was not caught by testing. Ignorance or incompetance, I would really like to know which it is.

OK, I've been grumpy because of lack of sleep...After thinking about this it seems that maybe it is something inherent in the way the game works that prevents you from setting up the map in WB. Dale, is there some sort of calculations or game mechanics that have to determine something when the game is initialized and that prevents custom maps? If so it seems to me that this will not be fixed, as it is something fundamental to the way the engine works.

If you know and would come out and say so would appreciate it as I could give up on hoping for a set map and move forward.

I'm still chasing down this bug, as well as the human player not randomising bug in random starts.

I have also been trying to make a more realistic Americas map (From your Colonisation I map Dale), I have not been using the World Builder to make it, have been doing it Manualy with notepad, I am suffering the same sympton as you Modfather, which leads me to belive it is something outside of the WBS file, The AI maybe?

If I load up your Colonisation I map Dale and just Move the Colonial Ships about, small amounts, then the AI doesn't seem to mind, but they Home in on what would be thier original starting possitons or as near too, and the game will continue on as if I hadn't moved them atall, yet if you move them large amounts form thier original start locations, then they all just seem to scout about then zip off back to Europe, pirates been the exception, they seem to be dead in the water for about 20-25 turns then they may move a bit, then they will stall again.

Fixed. Seems you can't have set Civs in set locations.

That fixes the issue with the AI not founding Colonies? If so where or what file is that set in?

No, it is the WBS file. If you have players and teams defined, it will not work. It's that simple. :)

Right, Okay I think I get it, seems a bit strange thou.

I take it there is no 'Limit' as to what Units and Cities you Place for the natives, even thou they arent Defined in the Civ list in the WBS file? Also since you cant define the cives you want and thier starting positions does this mean that the Colonists form Europe cant have thier Starting Postions changed?

All the start locs will be randomised, and the Natives use advanced start to form their inital tribe.

Snoopy and I are working on a fix for this and many other bugs over at our Poly Patch thread.

So keep an eye on that as we add more fixes. That is definitely one of them. :)

Attach the map, and I'll fix it.

From:- HELP! My map isn't working!

Fix it by removing the defined Civs? If so isn't real much of a Fix :) Removing the defined Civs form a Scenario kinda defeats the object of having a Scenario :)

Soz for Qutoe from a diff Thread but this and that thread are basicly the same so I didn't see any point keeping both threads open.
