How do I make forest clearings for resources?

I'm trying to add prime timber back into the game, but though I have all the files and have successfully put it into the game, the one problem I'm having is that it's really hard to see, as the forests cover it up. Every other resource creates a clearing around itself when it's in a forest, so what I need to know is how to add that for my timber resource.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
 
I haven't tried this myself, but have you looked at the CIV4PlotLSystem.xml in the Assets\XML\Buildings folder? My understanding is that the L System relates to the part of the graphics engine that lays out the items that appear on the terrain (bonuses, improvements, etc).

The file contents look a little cryptic, but there's a promising reference to "bCutTrees:1" which looks like a good place to start. You could try guessing from the equivalent Civ4 file in mods that introduce new bonuses, like Rhye's.

I sort of thought most of the thick forest as prime timber.

increasing the +14 woos you now from a lumberjack would seem a little high to me
