Welcome to the second game in Schwartz' FfH Series, as the Balseraph in "Scarborough Fair":

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there,
She once was a true love of mine.

The idea of this game is built around the odd nature of the mind of the Balseraph. Basically, this is done by implementing several "rules", such as it is seen in RB games and RPCs. This will be a mix of the two, with some added theme from the song/poem "Scarborough Fair", by Simon and Garfunkel. The lyrics will be posted in the bottom of this post.

The rules are:

Reports and comments/advice must be done in poetic verses - preferably in the rythm of the song.

The Capital city of the empire must be named Scarborough (or Scarborough Fair).

The players must implement a sense of madness that fits the Balseraphs insanity.

Each time the Insane trait changes our traits, the rules below will be changed;

The World spell may only be used in the first turn of a turnset (not inherited turn, but first turn you actually play of your turns).

Unique buildings and Carnivals has priority over other buildings.

Unique units and units with significant Balseraph skins have priority over other units.

Roster:
Diamondeye (Generated map and UP)
PaulusIII (On Deck)
Korias
Ozbenno
Groogaroo
Schwartz

The game will be played with the following settings:
-Large Map Size, Random Scriptmap with default amount of random rivals,
-Random Climate and Sea Level,
-Vassal states disabled,
-Double the amount of events and animals,
-Epic Speed, Monarch Difficulty.

Now, for our Leader, the glorious, the charming, the completely insane Perpentach:

... And our starting position:

I will be playing the first turnset once the Roster is filled and the team have discussed where to go from the starting position (in poetic manner, ofcourse).

Spoiler Lyrics for Scarborough Fair :
Simon and Garfunkel said:
Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there,
She once was a true love of mine.

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt,
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Without no seams nor needlework,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Tell her to find me an acre of land,
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Between the salt water and the sea strand,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Tell her to reap it in a sickle of leather,
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
And to gather it all in a bunch of heather,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

Are you goin to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there,
She once was a true love of mine...

Note that the song is actually an old folk song and not actually written by Simon and Garfunkel.

I love the idea of using Scarborough Fair for this game. It fits so well with Perpentach.

If possible, I'd like to play. However, I'd be happy to forfeit my position should a better player want in.

I'll be lurking this one I think.

Interested to see how the changing traits mix things up.

Wish I could join in the fun but
a) my poetry sucks and
b) I've just got a new job so will be time starved for a while

I say we move that settler until we don't have a ****load of forests around us.

I say we move that settler until we don't have a ****load of forests around us.
That sounds like a great idea. If I may offer a suggestion, North seems promising, with the corn AND coastline. The start could be used as a second city once BW has been researched.
Spoiler Poetic Form :
The Northern Edges
They seem quite promising, yes.
Sadly, less hammers.

Alrite, welcome all lurkers, and Korias, welcome on the roster!

Concerning starting position:
Get out of the forest, away from the trees.
the closer to heaven, the more he sees,
both sides of the river will move in time,
but talking to natives is still a crime?

Thanks for getting this started while I was away Diamondeye.

Agree with your assessment of the start. Get going to the south, IMO. That warrior can clear the way first. It's too early in the morning for me to be writing in poetic verse, so that will need to wait until my turnset :p

Around us now the forests unfold,
South of us are jungles untold,
In the west we hear rolling wave,
None of these is what we crave.

From atop a hill, what can you see?
Lots of forests and lots of sea,
but what is this, this plant of sweet?
That grows so well in southern heat.

I think I know where I am going,
and what I need to learn;
first the art of sugar sowing,
to the south we yearn?

I'd like to sign up if you'll have me
Though my poetry can rhyme quite badly
so if you can forgive me for this
Please add me towards the end of the list.

:)

What secrets must those natives hold?
I must move to the south,
before I grow too old,
to settle near the river's mouth.

Spoiler :
LOL I can't write poetry.

PS: Change our name to SCH0002 - Scarborough Fair ;)

Welcome Ozbenno and Groogaroo,
I'll change our name to SCH000 two,
do all agree that south's the way?
Should we settle in the corn bay?

Are you looking for more crazy freaks
Insanity, rage, rhymes and madness
Vogons are fun but Perpy is tops
Its curtains for you Erebus my dear.

ie, I'm in if you're looking for more. Have some (very bad) form in poetry based SGs (check the link if you're brave enough)

I dread the sting of Vogon words,
their writing is so bad it hurts,
only one man survived their horrific rend,
his name, my friends, was DentArthurDent.

Read: You're in ;)

And so the show starts my friends!
Upon these turns our future depends!

I move our people directly south,
to settle at the river's mouth:

Loss of gold, but lots of food,
we'll do so fine we'll do good.
Look what the natives offer to us,
The ability to bang together rocks?
plus we got our fair share of loot.

We meet this funny little man,
he has a beard and a funny tan,
he looks like he's never seen the sun,
his size is small (excuse the pun),
and machines limit his attentions span.

Remember the cougars from earlier on?
They were really tigers, and up for fun.
Civ4ScreenShot0339.jpg

This leaves us with no puppets to play with for many years,
would me playing twenty more mean any tears?
Until now I played only ten in fact,
we need some time to start the act!
