Wow. These are all very nice. Such detail!
Now somebody has to make a scenario.

Oh yeah
Spoiler :
w00t! First Post!

Probably a stupid question, but who are portrayed as "the good guys" in this series? From the Wiki article it's sounding like the Confederates, but since Wyrmshadow has such a liking of the series, I'd like to hear his thoughts.

If you have read the whole series you will find that although sympathies swayed toward both North and South in the end the South is portrayed as the ultimate evil.

I'v never read the serie, but is there a reason why they are all wearing a gas mask?

Their faces are cold. Also, since it's an alternate history, perhaps the ban on the usage of chemical/biological/etc weapons wasn't put in place.

No ban on chemical warfare. There was no biowarfare in this story.

To play on a quote from the movie "Platoon": "The Wyrm has turned." - Infantry!

Best,

Oz

Since this is one of my favorite movies, I must nitpick: :D

IMDb said:
Then the Wyrm has definitely turned for you, man.

Wyrm must really like those Harry Turtledove books, as I could almost swear he said he didn't like making infantry. I could be wrong though.

Right on both counts.
It's very hard to do infantry and make them look realistic. Imagine a puppet on strings, and you are responsible for ALL of it's movements. I don't have any prebuilt 'bones' or 'poses' or 'run animation' that I can just mate to my bodies. It's all up to me.

I was a history major in college. I've been reading about WW2 since I was 8. So it was lots of fun following the storylines and comparing events and poeple in the books to Our Time Line. (OTL).

You're also an excellent salesmen, as I'm now looking for these books

Okay, I had to redo the Confederat trooper because I found an accurate coloring for "butternut"... It looks like mud. But I kept the older file up anyway.

Also done is the US WW2 rifleman. Yes he is armed with a bolt-action Springfield.. No such thing as a Garand in this timeline.

Great stuff. The deaths look especially good. My only niggle is that the first two are suffering from Slidy Feet Syndrome in the fortify - they'd look better if they could pick their feet up and step from one position to the other.

I really like these units. The victory animations are some of the best that I've ever seen. They do all remind me of how much I hate to wear gas masks. After wearing them for so long, your head starts to hurt, and let's not even talk about how hard it is to shoot straight with one on. Let's just say that I'm glad that the Army started buying ACOGs for all of the M-16s and M-4s.

ARRIBA ARRIBA! Andale!
Empire of Mexico's Rifleman is finished.

POSER? We don need no stinkin' POSER!
