Players so Far :
Spoiler:
First off, big ups to our last tournament's winner - Mehmed100! And to all who played & finished. ![]() ------------Note to Mods------------ As per tradition I am starting this thread in OT and requesting the mods let it stay here for 24 hours before moving it to CFC's Chess subforum so new members who might not otherwise see it can have access. Thanks again! Also, wondering if a mod could sticky this in the chess subforum when they move it. ![]() ------------Tourney Info------------ This year, the tourney will be held at chess.com. A great site with a ton of cool features & a very cool owner (up there with the great Thunderfall even! ).It will be a a double-round-robin where each player plays every other player in his group of five twice (eight games total, four at a time). The time control will be a very leisurely 14-days per move so there is no excuse to time out (you also have an additional 30 days of vacation time which you can use at any time, as long as it's not your move in any games). The top two players in each group will advance to the second round. So ten players in round two. Two groups of five. Then four will advance to the final round. The winner of round three takes all. *Note : I've raised the max number of players to 35, hopefully we can get that many* And, for the first time, I will offer a prize. Prize will be a gold Membership on Chess.com ($30 value). I've cut away pretty much also unnecessary spending but I wanted to upgrade to Platinum for the features, to support the site, as an investment (Narz getting better equals better chances to take the big stakes in Vegas & Philly next year ) AND last but definitely not least so I could create multi-round tournies, namely this one for my brethren at CFC !Tourney Link (if you see your name on here, you're in )------------How to Join------------ To join, PM me or better yet, join chess.com and send me a message there. I figure we'll max out at 25 players but if there is huge popular demand I'll can raise the max amount of players to 30 (6 groups of 5) or 36 (6 groups of 6 which would mean five games at a time). ------------Time Commitment------------ The time commitment for this tournament will be probably an hour or two a week on average. I'd encourage everyone to sign in as often as possible but the fourteen-move time control is there for when you need it & are having one, two or three of those days when you're just not in the mood to think carefully about a move. The tournament could last as long as a year but I suspect, due to the format it will be much quicker than either of the previous two tournaments. The DRR format is, in my opinon, far superior for a smaller tournament like this one. Keep in mind that 40% of players will get to advance to round 2 so play hard & enjoy yourself.------------Rules------------ Only rule is - no computer assistance or any other outside help (asking for analysis & commentary after games are completed is fine & encouraged)! ------------When Does it Begin?------------ I figure we'll start in one to two weeks. Probably closer to two. If you have any questions about the tourney please post & ask.

By the way, I've raised the total number of max. players from 25 to 35. Which means we may get an extra round but if there are a lot of ties in the first round we may get an extra round anyway.
More groups also makes it less like that 3 or 4 really strong players all start out in the same group - most of the players will be at 1200 rating when the tourney begins so the site won't be able to arrange the groups to be as naturally balanced as possible but more groups usually means more balance. |

You sure you're willing to commit Tomoyo? It's 14/days a move so shouldn't be a problem just don't forget about it.
