The return of the ski-mask soldiers.

I like your new units, but the textures are way too big and I never was into using ski-masks, so I will fix both of these issues and incorporate them into my mod then ;)
 
But does the textures slowing down the work? Thought that only overpoly can do it
 
I doubt they slow down things much, copying larger textures from HD to ram to video will definitely take more time than it does for small textures (albeit almost unnoticably).

But of course larger textures also take up more video ram and when you have many different units, this probably might get noticable. Given the size of my mod (plenty of civ-spcific units) I certainly do not want 1024x1024 pixel textures for the uniform of a soldier (let alone the head of one).

Imo there is a reason why CIV itself uses 64x64, 128x128 and in some rare cases 256x256 textures but never anything like 1024x1024 - except for leaderheads. While computers have improved in the meantime, so have the requirements of mods, so things probably still balance out in that respect.

To summarize, it won't hurt if there are just a few units like that around, but I assume that if all units were to use such textures, the mod would be unplayable / require a very high end system (and I am not going to take that chance).

Besides, you won't really see a difference between 1024x1024 and 256x256 (128x128 for the head) probably not even all that much of a difference if you halved those numbers yet again.
 
Looks very cool, Zerver! Although I have to get used to the sky-mask as well. They look like a anti-terror unit. However, looks very cool. I'll test them in the evening, I guess I'll really get used to it! Thank you very much for your efforts!

EDIT: In your download thread you wrote that you got inspired by some videos. What kind of videos could that be? You don't mean videos about 23rd of october in 2006??
 
Oh, one more thing I always wondered but so far never asked, what is the shotgun unit supposed to represent ? Infantry ? or the NextWar Cyborg (for your future mod) ?

And which animation does it use ?
 
An combat engineer unit. There is no unitclass in game, I made it for myself.
In game, his strength is 23, movement 2 and he can build roads rapidly.
Next war cyborg animations.
I also have an animation, where he has a normal man's voice and a shotgun reload sounds. Very cool.

Never a fan of ski-masks... I don't know of any regular armed forces that wear ski-masks into battle as a standard-thing.

Some cop and swat teams wear them, but regular soldiers? Not liking the ski-masks at all. It seriously detracts from an otherwise good model. Boo.
 
OK, just saw the ski-mask of the regular magyar soldier in a video. Will make ski-maskless texture just for you.
 
Find it in a NextWar_antitank or something like this. Also you can find it in an "AnitankInfantry" folder.
