Call me stupid but i can't find the scenarios in the single player game scenraio list. I know in 0.34 there were a scenario button (without function) in the game but i can't imagine i have to start any game just to get the scenario screen.

Any advise here?

Yes you do, it's in the same location still. :P It functions now.

And how do I start a scenario without getting a CTD?

Here is what worked for me:
start new game
end the turn
on the next turn select the scenario from the scenario screen

when I tried to open the scenario in the first year I got crash to desktop.

Actually, I wondered also about the scenarii, but it was not about how to run them but how to find them!

Scenarii are NOT directly accessible from the regular BTS/FFH menu. They won't appear under the menus "Play Scenario" or "Custom Game".
As the scenarii are linked (winning one unlocks the next one), they can not be loaded from the general interface as probably the routine for locking/unlocking would not be triggered

> For FINDING the scenarii, you must create a regular game (PLAY NOW).
> When you are in the game screen, the shortcut is "CTRL + E", or click on the new button that is on the top left of your screen (with the adviser's & Somnium buttons).
This will call the general internal scenario menu...

Now, for running them, as said before, for the moment it is a bit with magic and trickery and you need to try the various workarounds in this thread ;)
But I guess the best is to follow Kael's workaround (italics: my comments)
1. Start a custom game on a duel, erebus map. (with all default options, especially option boxes)
2. Save the game (using the interface, not fast save)
3. Exit FfH2. (I exit from BTS, back to desktop)
4. Reload FfH2.
5. Load your save game.
6. Then try to play a scenario.

It worked for me (Vista Ultimate-sp1, on a Dell laptop XPS M1730)

Side note: I find accessing the scenario's rather clunky in design. Having to load/start a game before being able to load a scenario is annoying. Then, if you finish the scenario and don't click "just one more turn" you're booted back to the main menu where you have to, once again, load/start a game. Eh, I'll just have to watch out for that one next time.
Anyways, is there any reason why these can't just be accessed from the regular scenario menu? Too much hard coding involved?

I also got "1" instead of actual diplomacy text, but it'll happen when I just click on their name and not just for open borders. It seems to happen randomly for no reason.

Firaxis didnt release the source code for the main menu so there are very limited options as to what can be done there. I can publish all of the scenarios in the "Play scenario" menu. But they would all be open, available and in no particular order. So players would just have a list of scenario names to choose form and the stories wouldn't make any sense. The events that effect other scenarios would also be broken sense there wouldnt be any garuntee that they wer eplayed in the correct order.

So in short, we wanted to enforce some rules around the order scenarios have to be played in which required us to code up our own load system (which we could only do within the game).

Weird, that shoudl have been fixed with patch "a".

So... at the risk of sounding stupid, what do you do after you click on the scenarios icon and get the scenario screen? I can click on the scenarios to read the descriptions but the only active button on the scenario screen is Exit.

Are you running the new version of FfH that was released Tuesday?

Doh! I clicked all over the screen but for some reason I apparently never hit those icon.

Thanks.

I tried that with patch b installed, and I still got a crash. :(

i just solve my display driver problem.finally get to play.
but no mater what i try
i cant play scenario
like end turn then restart or wait some turn then restart the game
still crash to desktop!!!
i don't follow the thread,is it a new path
my ff2 0.4 version is first path came out at dec 15

I get the same CtD, even when following the workaround above listed by OzzyKP. I have patch k installed and am running Vista SP1.
When I press the buttons to run the scenarios, it just crashes out.
Are there any other known workarounds.

Did you try running it through the play scenario menu?
