H. Capac (Industrious-Deity series)

So, we've won with quite a few different different victories so far. However, one form which I have avoided forever on Deity is cultural. I was a bit hesitant on this since I have read many times how hard it is to pull off on standard. On the other hand, I was talking to Snaaty recently and he informed me he pulled off a relatively early victory with Zara. So, this gives me quite some hope. Though I have to admit, Zara comes with the best ever UB for this, and it comes right out at the start practically.

Anyhow, I decided to give H. Capac a go here.

blah blah move settler two tiles east blah blah.

I'm assuming you're going to avoid the Quecha rush since blah blah.

Again, looking forward to the read.

You're clearly a master of Industrious, and shown many times how it can rock on Deity when many dismissed it.

But what do you think is the weakest Diety trait?

I'd love to see you or Snaaty or other Deity players tackle some deity games with your bottom 3 (in your opinion) ranked leaders.

Don't quecha rush!

Pretty sure the game has already been won by this point, think he mentioned it in the other thread. ;)

Terrace gives culture right? Pretty solid building för culture wins and financial starting with floodplains by the looks of it will certainly make for a nice read.

The tention!! Can't wait to read the outcome!

Obsolete, your write-ups have elevated my game by miles. Thank you

(prolly most important lesson you keep :hammer: on, don't think the AI can think... it's just all game mechanics)

PS.
I don't give a h0rses @rse about using presumably overkill units. That's still what makes the game interesting (after acknowledging it's just mechanics): The history of mankind is reflected in strong units and buildings.

Again, looking forward to the read.

But what do you think is the weakest Diety trait?

I really don't think you can judge any leader by taking a vote on what is the weakest trait. Traits appear in combos of 2, and then there are other items that are assigned to each leader that may couple with that trait in a powerful way. So I'm really hesitant to give an official statement on which is the weakest.

I played this one in 3 hours (the last one 2 hours), so yeah, I ended up finishing it in just one single speed-session. Of course, the write-up will probably take just as long, I'll try and post some of the notes later on this evening if I don't get too tired/lazy.

The quin link is broken btw.

Oh please get some coffe and we all know you ain't lazy :). But as this is the thread I check about once per hour pretty please do it already.

Alright, Fixed.

Hmm! So just lay on me the guilt-trip why don't you...!

Turn 0
Spoiler :
f_turn0m_d19b727.jpg

I really was stumped here on what to do. I couldn’t make up my mind to move 1 spot north, or stay at my starting spot. Finally I just decided to settle in place.

Turn 0-10
Spoiler :
f_turn10m_eb86c2a.jpg

So, we scouted around a bit, what do you think?

Turn 10-20
Spoiler :

Not much change yet, is there.

Turn 20-30
Spoiler :
f_turn30m_f3e2e4d.jpg

Still not much visible change. Oh well, time to revolt to slavery so there is something new to look at.

Turn 30-40
Spoiler :
f_turn40m_35797f8.jpg

Well, getting boring yet?

Turn 40-50
Spoiler :
f_turn50m_2303c5c.jpg

Ok, I’ll take a shot of a piece of ice, or we’ll have to resort to the same shot AGAIN.

Turn 50-60
Spoiler :
f_turn60m_04c2fc0.jpg

Well this is bad... very bad. Apparently we can still try to work on the Lighthouse this turn, even though it was already built last turn. Uhhhh....
Anyhow, I guess this is what often happens when you don’t get TGLH by turn 50. Even turn #48 can be too late.

Note: Oracle was already gone the next turn anyway. The wonder build-times in this game were absolutely sickening... Pyramids were gone by 1280 BC already! I had been planning on trying to give it a shot, but that sure blew up in my face.

Turn 60-70
Spoiler :

Finally, and now for something different!
Legendary II city gets founded.
And we run into Khan who owns Hindu.
Anyhow, I’m doing this silly pottery order so I can get writing at a discount.

Turn 70-80

Legendary III city gets founded.

Turn 80-90
Spoiler :
f_turn90m_91846ff.jpg

Time to revolt to Hindu.
Anyhow, it feels so weird to have been building obelisks. All because of this cultural gimmick.

Turn 90-100

Marble-Junk City...

Well, I know it’s a junk-city, but it has marble. Now call my crazy, but I am going to try to take a shot at TGL and Sistine Chapel with it. Now yes, I know the wonder build-times are sickening this game, and chances are very low, but I’ll take a shot anyway. At least I can build some more wealth if all goes wrong again.
But hopefully it’s not going to be just another Lighthouse-Pyramids disaster...

Nothing wrong with founding junk ice cities to claim a wonder resource, I do the same thing.

You should be able to get the Great Library at least, the AI doesn't like Literature very much... (Though since you said everything that could go wrong did this game I'm guessing you might have missed it. ;) )

How could you already be so far with a workboat in 3600BC? Did you pop fishing from a hut?

Firstly I don't have Civ with me and therefore am likely to make errors with regards to cost of units and techs.

Looking at it Obsolete put 7 turns into a worker, working the forested grassland hill while teching Fishing. Then when fishing was completed, has now put 3 turns of the forested grassland hill into a fishing boat. Home is producing 3 :hammers: per turn at the moment of a 30 :hammers: build. 7 turns to go.

The reason for this could be one of two as far as I can see, either Obsolete wanted the 4 :food: 3:commerce: improved clam more than the 5 :food: 1 :commerce: farmed corn, or felt that once the workers had finished the farm, they would be sat about not doing much until Mining & Bronze Working had been teched, so delayed their production.

I thought it was quite clear. Finish a technology, begin building a unit allowed as a result of the new technology by working a tile.

What are you struggling with?

I thought his progress with mining was very fast then, but the solution seems much simpler than I thought. :crazyeye:

I've always considered cultural - diplomatic - space race to be simplistic at any level requiring nothing more than the enter key to win in most cases, BUT, I'll still read on out of morbid curiosity.

I am a Warmonkey and am always pulled towards Domination or Conquest Wins. That's what I'm still waiting for.

Looking forward to the next update. :)

Speaking of updates, when are you updating your deity game? :mischief: It's finished, correct?

have you done any deity games where you win a straight up domination/conquest victory? these peacemonger victories just don't seem right to me.
