I was playing a game when my mobo beeped. So I quit out, opened my benchmarking program, and went towards the temperature. (I remember reading that sometimes the mobo beeps if the temperature's too high).

The first temperature seems right, but what's up with the other two??

EDIT: Now the second one's flucinating a lot from 10 C to 240. It seems like it's correlating with the processor usage.

ANOTHER EDIT: I just looked at the fan, to see if its burned out or something.. It's still blowing. I can tell because when I put my hand 6 inches away, I can feel the air moving.

Definitely glitched. At 240C, your processor would be a puddle of silicon goop. (Seriously, ever seen a melted processor?)

I watched melting/exploding processors on youtube. That was quite cool.

I installed Speedfan and got 42 C, which should be about right. I'm guessing it was due to the proggie not being able to read the sensors properly -- I have a slightly older mobo.

You probably only have 1 temperature sensor. The other 2 probably aren't temperature sensors, just the program thinks they are, like if you open a random file in notepad, it shows gobbledygook, because notepad reads it as a text file even though they're not text files -- same thing here, the program is showing random numbers because it's reading them as temperature sensors even though they're not temperature sensors.

Probably.

I once accidentally opened an image file in notepad and got a bunch of random stuff. (I was curious to see if I'd get ASCII art or something. I was 12 or 13.)

Okay, now not only is my computer melted, apparently it's gone into a deep freeze. (Temp2)

I knew Canada was cold, but this is ridiculous!

You dont HAVE a Temp 2 sensor. The program is just glitching.

I know. I was making fun of it.

you should delete that program and see if you can download one that matches your motherboard.

Unfortunatly, I don't know the exact model of my mobo, and HWiNFO32 gives 4 mobos, and other programs either don't recognize it or are in German or something. And my mom would have a fit if I opened it up. I've also tried rebooting to check the BIOS screen, but only got stuff about drives and processors.

Does anyone know of a program that'll work? I've tried HWiNFO32, Everest Home, and CTBIOS.

You should just stop worrying about it.

I saw this post about 5 minutes too late. LOL. I installed Belarc Advisor (I've used it before, pretty good piece of software) and finally got it:

Board: RS482-M

No, they said they aren't giving the CD to me until it's paid in full. I use the recovery partition that came with the computer.

I don't trust myself to update the BIOS myself, but the manual will be very useful.

I'd print it out, but it's [beep] 86 pages!!!!
