Bulb Feudalism

Does anyone know what kind of GP it takes to bulb feudalism. I'm not talking about Oracle, just bulbing with a GP. Feudalism requires writing and monarchy.

I'm thinking of Sitting Bull using offensive longbows and how to get them asap. Figure just a standard oracle/monarchy slingshot.

This is for standard, normal, emporer.

And both of them are somewhat dificult. The GE route pretty much requires you have Mining but no BW, while in the GA route is almost impossible to avoid going full religious if you're not going Aesthetics.

Even then the GE one looks more more feasible

It's too far down for either one. It will never work, better to research it.

Why not bulb Philosophy and trade for it?

Presumably Crusher1 is having trouble with terminology -

GP = Great Person
Bulbing = using great person to discover a tech (with the lightbulb icon).

I agree, it looks like a hard bulb. There are so many techs you need before an artist will bulb it and without bronze working you need the pyramids to get an engineer.

I'd just try and oracle it.

Maybe rush to music and use the GA for feudalism bulb? Otherwise mass them after COL. But i realize, researching Col or Music is expensive too.

Trying to bulb Feud takes you down a sub-optimal tech path. Building the Oracle forces you down a specific tech path to even build it plus you have to invest hammers to do so. Continuing towards Feud takes more time and once you have it leaves you with a dead tech imo. Dead because the AI always go up that path so your trade will suffer - not to mention you have missed other valuable techs such as Alphabet - Currency - COL all enhancing your research via economy or trade.

The time in research and hammers is time and production lost which could have been used earlier for an Axe or Chariot rush. The OP could already have 3-5 (minimum!) conquered cities by the time he even finishes getting Feud.

If the OP does go the Feud route trading for it will not work. First, AI's won't have Feud yet and it won't be available for trade. If it was available for trade other AI's could also have LB so a LB rush wouldn't even work.

If the OP goes the Oracle route I seriously doubt he has time to tech the preq for the Oracle and also finish researching Monarchy and Writing. On Immortal the Oracle should be finished no later than 1500 BC. At Emperor you need to have the Oracle finished no later than 1280 BC. I don't think that's enough time to research everything necessary to choose Fued as your free tech.

That means the OP needs to research it himself which leads to a slower war and a slower land grab (already slowed by more production and research directed towards the Oracle). Reiterating - an earlier war with Axes or Chariots would work better IMO.

Obviously you know the lingo if you play Immortal

If the OP want's to put the Protective trait to good use I suggest exploiting the wall gold overflow and making good use of Gunpowder units - which he will get a lot faster ignoring Feud.

Yep! . I also put in lots of smile faces to ensure "fun" and "warm" feelings all around . Too many people go crazy and misinterpret whatever it is they "want" to read ^^.

Because if you wait until the AI has it for trade then by the time you get them whipped/built ALL the AI will have it and you have missed your window of opportunity. At that point is is basically the same as an archer rush only worse because your foe can switch to vassalage for better units.

If the plan is to bulb to get an early tech edge that has great synergy, may I suggest an alternate plan.
Take metal casting with the Oracle. whip a forge and use SB's philosophical trait to get a GE from running an engineer. Best to do this in your non-Oracle city. Research IW while waiting for your GE. Build a chunk-o-archers. When the GE arrives bulb machinery, chop/whip walls for gold then upgrade the archers to X-bows. Promote 2-3 with either D2Cover or D1C1Cover for attacking the healthy archers. Then proceed with D3 X-bows to take the city. A CG1archer fortified in a city with 20% culture has a slight strength advantage over a D3 X-bow which kind of hurts the first strikes. using cover pushes the strength advantage back in favor of the X-bow. The cover x-bow will quickly become a D3X-bow and then the fun really begins.
And CG3X-bows really defend well against anything the AI can bring without using a pile of catapults to drop it's strength down.

Not true...the human player using Vassalage has a far different effect from the AI using it. The target AI may not have enough unit quantity or corrent unit placement/movement to compensate for human advantages. Furthermore, the target AI will not necessarily have Feudalism, even though the human and a few other AIs may have it.

I've already oracled Feudalism.
On prince, it was easy.
I then lost the game...

How do you chop/whip for gold?
