As I'm sure you all know Tall Poppy Syndrome is an Aussie term. What better way to describe our next attempt at Fall From Heaven's "High to Low" mode.

"High to Low" game option (single player only, human player has to get to 1st place and is then takes control of the last place player, must take that player to 1st place, then you are switched to the last place player for the rest of the game).

We did it (quite unexpectedly it must be said) in OB07. Can it be done again.

Want a roster of six for the attempt, five places are reserved (but not as yet claimed) so need at least one more brave soul.

We'll discuss options at a later stage (difficulty, map etc) once all spots are taken.

Roster
Ozbenno
Lone Wolf
darrelljs
Lobsterboy
ssmage
PaulusIII

Xenoborg - 1st alternate
Diamondeye - 2nd alternate

It's a Kiwi term you damned aussie thief, have you no shame!!!

When has an Aussie ever had shame  Let's call it an Antipodean term then.

ssmage, you get the open spot. I'm not sure if all the invitees are going to accept, so another couple of expressions of interest would be good.

I'm in!

I've been contemplating a return to the SG format for a while (it's been a few YEARS since I last participated in one!), and Oz was kind enough to extend an invitation to me. I've played a fair amount of FFH, but my games always seem to feel the same. I'm hoping an SG will shake me out of some of my bad playing habits, and that the High-to-Low format might force me to play races that I typically shun in my single player games (Sheaim, Calabim, Infernals, Mercurians, Kuriotates). I can dominant at Prince level, and usually can score at or near the top on Monarch. I haven't played much at Emperor+, but I'm game to try if that is the will of the majority.

Lately, I've started playing Fall Further, and I love the additions - the new races, the new magic spheres and promotions, the return of Guilds - so much so, that it's hard to go back to unmodded FFH. Nevertheless, there are some stability issues with the mod, which seem to vary from game to game. I've played games for hundreds of turns without a CTD error, but others where after a while, the CTD errors occurred every 5 turns or so. I'd be up for a FF SG game, but maybe not using the Hi-to-Low format until I've had a chance to explore more of the new races.

On other thing: This week and next I may only have limited playing and forum time due to an upcoming business trip. After next Friday, my schedule should be back to normal.

Would you consider turning off Hyborem?

I've started a bunch of high-to-lows at Emperor+. I have quite a few saved in the latter half of the 2nd civ and another couple on the last Civ. It takes a LOT of luck to make it as the last civ if it's not the Infernals.

I just read the last game report -- :goodjob: I don't mean any offense at your win with the Infernals, but it would be cool to see an attempt without switching into a Hyborem slugfest as the third civ.

Lurker comment

nice gmaes you got listed there lobster ;) :)

Another thing I've noticed about FF is that the AI seems to be worse than the regular FFH AI, so you should up the difficulty if that is going to be the case.

I agree on leaving Hyborem out, judging by what happened in OB-07.

Both map scripts seem to generate nice Erebus-like starts. I'm fine with using either one.

Well Immy isn't going to join us after all. We currently have 5 on the roster. If there is no other expressions of interest by this time tomorrow I'm happy to keep it at that.

So start the ball rolling on preferences on settings.

Leader will be random, difficulty Monarch, Aggressive AI and No Tech Brokering but what else?

Size: Standard to Huge?
Map: Erebus Continent, other, random?
Other Settings: No Hyborem, other?

Hopefully we can get a start over the weekend.

Size? Large or standard. (Cut down on game lag, It was a problem in OB07. Besides, Erebus maps make standard>large>huge>giant.)
All other is fine.

May I join you? Warning: I'm a noob to SG's, althrough I have quite a bit of FfH experience.

I'd be up for a FF SG game, but maybe not using the Hi-to-Low format until I've had a chance to explore more of the new races.

That's pretty much my reaction...the modmod appears to have a lot of changes and I'm not sure Hi/Low is the best challenge to overcome the inevitable learning curve.

I like large/standard and Erebus map. I was going to suggest a Creative leader to make the first "Hi" easy to obtain, but random should make things nice and interesting :).
