FLASHBACK: The year is 700 AD. The African Iron Fist alliance had been on the brink of a massive invasion of Europe. They had recuited the English Empire to assist them. But before they did this, they were supposedly betrayed by the Arabs and went to war with them, starting the train that destroyed the Arab Confederation. When the Iron Fist attempted to invade Europe they were betrayed by the English and were masscred setting the road for American predominance over the world.

We are back to this time. Will the path continue like it did to American dominance? Will Africa stay in power? Or will another continent rise to dominance above the rest? Only time will tell.

Upgrading Stats:

your economy is the expenses for all upgrading. for every two things you upgrade your economy will go down a level.
Some Examples

upgrade both army and navy from medium to large. -1 economy level.

upgrade the army from small to medium and increase education from poor to average. -1 economy level.

Special Cases:
upgrading air force in Industrial Age: costs two economy levels by itself

upgrading army to next age: costs one army level as well as the usual prices. Example: upgrade army and navy to Early Modern Age. -1 economy and -1 army and navy sizes. same goes for the airforce.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TRY TO UPGRADE YOUR ECONOMY WHILE UPGRADING OTHER SUTFF TOO. IT WON'T HAPPEN.

Hmmm, I'm a lot more a medieval/napoleonic or modern wargamer myself, but I'll give it a go.

"The world was a small place - no one dares venture into the darkness. But the many tribes have fallen upon hard times, and most have angry leaders. The tribes fight amongst themselves, and murdering and pillaging occurs between them.

"A Saxon clan, known as the Angles, flee from the carnage and bloodshed, into the darkness. They flee to a land they have heard about only in tales told by the wise men, a land called Europe.

"The Angles discover an island to the north west of Europe, and cross the small channel between it and Europe easily.

"But the Celts have beaten them to it. Fierce battles rage between the two races, until finally the Celts are pushed into the highlands, into lands they call Wales and Scotland. The Angles settle down in their new territory, called Angleland, or England as most soon call it.

"The Celts soon return with a peace offering - telling of horrific stories of a Celt tribe that has turned evil and is turning another small island - Ireland, into hell on earth.

"An alliance is formed, which would later become known as Britain.

"The British troops cross to Ireland to rescue the Celts there, and soon the bandits and murderers are killed, and their heads put on posts for all to see.

"Ireland joins the United Kingdom of Great Britain, and finally the British people begin to think of things other than war.

"King Alfred the Great leads Britain, and actually is the one who put the great in Great Britain," the old man smiled as his audience sat open mouthed.

"But there are some who would challenge his rule. Are you one of those, or would you support this fine ruler?"

Nomadic tribes, spread thin along the Nile, met for peace talks on a normally hot day in the desert. The tribes rival in size, the largest consisting of 5,000 men and women, the smallest consisting only of 100. This unusual meeting was designed by the Cult of Amonna-Ra, a 1,200 powerful tribe, to plan the forging of these tribes into a settlement. Afterall, all the tribes did share a common religion and speech. The city inwich when finished consisted of over 1000 gates, was named Thebes. After that, many wars with uncooperative tribes brought together the Egypitan empire, streetching from the Meditteranean, to the most southern split of the nile. Many military campaigns brought the lands of Israel and Mesopotamia under Egyptian control, and over years gradually became part of the empire. The Vast amount of Egyptian soldiers easily fortify the borders of the empire, while the economy prospers between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the lands of Israel, and of course Mother Nile.

The religion gradually evolved into a peaceful religion, meaning no sacrifices. Great campaigns into Egypt by outsider tribes, most known as the Hyksos, brought dispair in the early years, but did bring the horse and wheel technology into Egypt, allowing the naiton to rival other great civ's of the time.

At the present, great Pharoh Nefer Seti rules, having complete power over his people. A great temple is being constructed as we speak in the desert, near a city named Gaza

OOC: Arewe going to have army/Navy sizes?

At the dawn of the 40th century BC, the twelve great cities of the Fertile Crescent were united under the swift and bitter justice of King Hammurabi by the defeat of the three major dynasties of Elam, Mari, and Eshnunna. Consolidating the growth of his empire from the West end of the Persian Gulf, up the Tigris and Euphrates rivers to such great cities as Jerusalem and Damascus, the great Babylonian Empire sat at the seat of power in the Near East.

Now, as the great legions of Hammurabi descended from Babylon into the darkness of Greek territory in mountainous Eastern Anatolia, the nation prepared for a further period of prosperity--it was so hoped...

In the red sun of sunset a nomadic tribe called the Aztecs founded a great civilization on the continent of Aztecia. spanning across the strip of land separating North and South Aztecia. Uniting the mnay minor tribes of the area and working on the development of a writing system for all of the people of Aztecland to enjoy, King Montezuma created a time of prosperity and a strong kingdom he hoped would last for all eternity.

there we have it. 4 civilizations so far. time to begin. Anyone els feel free to pop in anytime. Map coming soon.

Eygpt: Wealthy people want good tombs for their afterlife. Pyramids requested.

England: English inventors develop bronze weapons and tolls and enter the Bronze Age. Stone age army because one size smaller Bronze Age Army if upgraded.

Toasty - Read my post. I said egypt has control over Mesopotamia since almost the dawn of time. But, just so there can be a Babylonian empire, I will say that we made contact, and that was it. But I still want to hold true to the Israel being and that whole penisula (Saudia Arabia, etc) to be Egyptian. I said it first, lol ;).

Egyptian navigators spot land in the supposidly endless Meditteranean, in Egyptian named Father Nile. After further exploration, maps were designed to show an almost boot looking peninsula. After more and more scouts were laid on the land, the Egyptians found a small settlement of "white" people, who called themselves Etruscans. Seeing how commandeering the land from these people were necessary for the growth of the Egyptian Empire, the army of Isis (instead of referring to armies with numbers, etc. 4th spearmen division, they are refered to as the army of certain Egyptian god/dess) was sent to conqeor the land.

The army of Isis consisted of 1,000 calvary and 1,000 spearmen (is this relevent for this time? If not, please say so and I will change it!). This should prove to be more then enough to clear the land of Etruscans.

Order was put to that all Etruscan army should be put to slavery and to begin building military bases and citizen housing in the newly found "Itala" land.

Someone please do this battle, and remember, the limited history we have of the Etruscans show them as peaceful tribe, which means very small army.

The tireme "Blue" swiftly passed up all others on its way to strike the hippo. The slaves on each side huffed together as they rowed together, sending the tireme skipping across the the water. Pharoh Nefer Seti, traditionally supposed to be seated on throne ontop of the ships hull, was out on the side, spear out. The hippo, turned the other way, sensed the coming of the bullet of a ship, and slowly descended into the murkey water.

"Pharoh, it is gone. We must wait for the next time it arises," One of the fellow boatsmen on the other side of 'Blue'.

"That can take hours, and you know I much to do. Tanus, sorcerer, please, tell me where to throw!" The intellegent Tanus, with his robe wrapped around his body, approached his Phaorh slowly and patient. Processing dozens of mathematical procedures in his head at lightning speed, Tanus quickly came up with an answer.

"There, Pharoh, strike there NOW!" Tanus yelled, and pointed to the murkiest water in the swamp. Without hesitation and full trust in Tanus, Nefer quickly struck the spot, his well-made body almost toppling over the side.

The boat remained still in the water for five minutes waiting for the dead creature to appear, but nothing happened. "Tanus, you must be tired today, this is the first time you have ever been incorrect. Perhaps anoth - " Just then the water began bubbling extremly near the boat, and before the Pharoh could finish his sentence, up through the water came a 5 - ton creature of the river. The stealth crowd on the shore cheered and chanted "Nefer, Nefer Nefer!" The Pharoh looked at Tanus again, and Tanus could only smile.

For those of you who find this scene familiar (with a couple minor name-switching and new events), you must have read River God. If not, I seriously recommend that book!!!

Positions:

Armies of Ra and Horus to be position in Israel, Hapi and Seth to be in lower Egypt (which is actually northern egypt), and armies of Geb and Hathor to be in upper egypt (actually southern egypt).

By two minutes :p.

Historically, Babylon did control Israel. Egypt never has. Can't you be content with the Nile rive valley?

EQandcivfanatic: I woudl love to do a battle scewne between aztecs and Incas! Two of my fav. civs! Although, i do not think you are refering Incas as a minor tribe. At least I hope not...lol.

-Jason

PS. Oh wow, that last post became lengthy!

Note: That's a tad large for one division. The entire Greek army at the battle of Saladris (I think) was about 17,000.

1,000 would be much more appropriate.

Actually, Toasty, in it's peak, Egypt did control Israel, AND Mesopotamia! And I do know for a fact that Egypt was more powerful then Babylon and larger when they both existed, as even with Hammarabi's code, Babylon was wrecked with civil wars and contantly ransacked by outsider tribes, while Egypt, before the Greeks, was only invaded once by Hyksos only becasue they had horse and chariot. Egypt hardly suffered from civil wars (besides later when they split into lower and upper egypt) as they believed their Pharoh as a God, and the Egyptian people were very religious-oriented and tusted everything the Pharoh did.

Just a little history session for ya all.

-Jason

Okay, to sort this out here is a map. Minor tribes are brown, and Babylon is settling Greece, not Italia as Italia was out of range for the boats of the time. And speaking of boats it may interest you that anything bigger than canoes have not been developed yet. Jason feel free to do the battles against the minor tribes for my people.

Map lower on thread now.

Jason: Yes, yes, but I'm as Hammurabi, during the golden age of Babylon. In it's peak, golden age, blah blah blah, it controlled Israel, and this was very often refrenced to in the Holy Bible. You already control twice as much land as I do, and already have a large amount of Mediterranean access. Why do you need Palestine so badly?

It would seem EQ has solved that problem for us.

Also, I was not doing anything in Greece, just probing their territory in Anatolia. I have no need for such inferior subjects...

So jsut because you are playing as Hammarubi automaticly sets the world to your time period? No. If that were the case, I already explained above, before your post, that I was playing as Egypt in her prime, and had control over Babylon anyways, and I let youhave Babylon so you could play, but am not going ot give up Israel.

I do not have more land then you! I need Palestine so badly is for the economy - as you know, productive farming can only be done 1-2 miles off the shores of the Nile, and that is not enough to provide a great civ., plus the needed room for cities, docks, etc. Palestine will proved with ample farming land for the economy.

EQ: Maybe it would be better to make the map without provinces, etc. ? I will post a map in a second of sort of a realistic look to it.

-Jason

An unusually active and capable administrator, Hammurabi had given his personal attention to such details as the cleaning of irrigation canals and the insertion of an extra month into the calendar. He was an outstanding lawgiver; the Code of Hammurabi is one of the most significant legal documents ever written. He had also been an inspiring religious leader; thus far in his reign the Babylonian city god Marduk became a recognized leader in the pantheon of deities.

Perhaps as Babylon's cultivation as the scientific, cultural, and religious pinnacle of the Near East had lead to a matter of prestige for Hammurabi. Despite his huge detail work in the Babylonian social life, illiteracy in the great Sumerian cuneiform writing still plagued the nation.

What was worse, Babylon now was virtually hemmed in between the Greeks, Egyptians, and Persians, and the only route of possible expansion would have to be war. Even with the stabalizing essence of Hammurabi law, Palestinians, Persians, and Hebrews especially resisted the rule of Babylonia and weakened the nation with internal strife.

This soon turned to fear. Fear from the Egyptians, angered over the Babylonian rule over Palestine--fear from the Persians, increasingly restless since the defeat of the Assyrians, and the worst fear of degradation into city-states that had come before the unification under the Babylonian crown wrought by the work of Hammurabi.

And the one thing that could not, not ever, be tolerated, was the loss of Empire.

Soon, he began to draw exploratory and military maps...
