Four years I've stayed silent on these forums.

Boredom and inspiration seem to come hand in hand nowadays.

This will be my first attempt at a CIV succession game.

Game: Civilization 4 : Beyond the Sword

Mod: Fall from Heaven

Civilization: Amurites
Leader: Dain the Caswallan
Victory: Tower of Mastery only
Difficulty: Emperor
Map script: Erebus
Map size: Standard
Game speed: Normal
Opponents: 11 7 Evil. 2 Neutral. 2 Good.

FfH. Arguably the greatest Civ mod of all time. It's mods like these that have kept us playing CIV (and Civ III) for near a decade.

I personally have a great fondness for the Amurites and their Wizards of the Coast. To further my gaming experience, I almost always stay true to the lore of the game. It adds a tasty flavor.

With this in mind...

Rules:

Must found Empyrean religion. If not, we must declare on those who have and take the holy city.
We must never declare war on a neutral or good civilization. We will fight defensive wars only against our brethren. This point is trumped by the first rule. If we are boxed in by allies, so be it.
We must eradicate the Ashen Veil Shrine if it is built. If the Infernals show, we must eliminate them, as well.
We may only use our world spell after acquiring all mana nodes needed for all the Towers. Simple enough.

I have tagged certain features for our game. I will not name them all, but here are three essentials:

All Unique features enabled.
Barbarian World.
Aggressive AI.

The beginning.

I will be on a business trip next week. (Apr 19 to 26) If that is not too much of an inconvenience, I can normally play regular turns.

Cheers

Sounds interesting but I've got far too much on my hands to join.

Try advertising in this thread as well

I will do so. Thank you, Wizard of Oz.

Fromage and Lone Wolf, I will place you both on the roster. We will begin our initial dialogue on opening moves shortly... I'd like to wait for at least one more to join our ranks.

Whoops, it's Fall Futher? I throught it's regular FfH. From what I see from FF changelog, it has some cool ideas, along with some unpolished, overdone, strange and WTH features. Also I heard that it has a worse AI. But I'll still play. :)

WTH features are minimal, I assure you. Hopefully fromage67 has caught on that this is Fall Further, too.

As for a worse AI... I think that that's a redundant theme in Civ in general, but it's not any worse than when playing the latest version of FfH. Backstabbing is more prone in the modmod, though.

I've heard that the AI is slightly worse then in base FfH.

I hadn't picked up the Fall Further bit. I don't mind (I think). I will search for it now.

I love Fall from Heaven, but the AI is brutal, so if it is even worse in Fall Further... That's OK, though, since I am learning to win in Monarch level in regular BtS CIV, so Emperor should be good.

It says it must be installed from version 2 033g of Fall from heaven, while I am at 2 040. So I gather I actually need to uninstall 040 and reinstall with 033g? Is this correct?

Lone Wolf, I remember coming across that thread sometime ago. By Patch "H" they were still milling with the worker/settler AI. It seems, as explained here, that by now the current patch has resolved most of these issues. The only problem I come across when dealing with the AI is that civilizations surrounded by hills and water seem to die early... due to their inability to prioritize fishing boats.

Other than that it's all love.

Still , FF does seem a victim of MOAR. Any way, I'm looking forward to experiencing its balanced and unbalanced features in that game.

No need to uninstall, FF will install in a separate folder entry. Looks to me like FF is at version 050L, though, not sure where you got the 033g reference from.

I am reading it from this thread.

It says: Fall Further Version 042 for Fall from Heaven 2 033g, but from your comments I don't need to worry about this? (I'll try it anyways.)

OK, thanks for the confirmation, Lone Wolf. I hope the AI issues are mostly resolved. But I am ready to give this a go.

I will be able to play my first turn on April 27. Should be able to play quickly after that.

That will be fine, fromage. At this rate we'll have a fourth member by the time you're back. Hmm.

This thread needs a bailout.

I beseech the forums, is there no one else who will join?

The team has spoken in private... we shall continue the game.

Gentlemen, I'm going to move our scout one SW. I tend to beeline GK regardless of starting situation. Thoughts?

Also, two spots are still open and will remain open until claimed.
