"We are the Elohim. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Prepare to be assimilated."

These days when I play the Elohim I feel like the Borg. I tell myself it's to spread my enlightened rule over Erebus, but the truth is I just want to assimilate them. Resistance is futile.

My personal favourite civ to assimilate are the Balseraphs for their Freaks (which upgrade to priests) and Mimics.

What's your favourite civ to assimilate using the Elohim? and why? :scan:

What other civs are doing to other conquered cities way more resembles assimilation. Elohim with their Order of the Blank Banner allow the conquered cities to keep their culture.

Freaks are nice, but why not just play the Bals if you want to use Freaks? For my money, Tolerant only really helps when you get another civs abilities without their drawbacks. For instance, I like taking Clan cities, if they're not buried in jungle. You get Warrens, which are the best Clan feature (giving you endless hordes of Ogres) without the major Clan drawback (the research penalty which keeps them backwards the whole game).

:) The point is to be the Elohim and yet use other civ's units against 'em! It's not about using Freaks! Or Geeks! When I'm the Elohim, which I do play because I feel sorry for 'em, I like crushing Ljos and Svartalfars and saying "Play nice. We've got work to do." Having a combined Ljos/Svart assault force just amuses me. Reason enough.

Nothin like spawning next to Flauros as the Elohim. He's a pretty easy rush target, and getting a bunch of Calabim cities up and running before or at Code of Laws is the greatest thing ever.

Building the grunt melee force of your mid/lategame army out of Doviello cities is also real sweet, though harder to set up.

Taking dwarven cities basically demands a lategame change to neutral alignment, to get those druids. I like OO for it.

In the game I'm playing right now my Elohim are adjacent to the Sheaim. They attacked me early on so I won't even feel any remorse when it becomes time to liberate their people. I look forward to trying out Monks + Pyre Zombies.

I like assimilating the Clan, if only so I can get my daily dose of greenskins.
To be honest, I don't think I've really played a good Elohim game since Tolerant came out. Either something distracted or another patch came out. Time to remedy that now I think.

you misunderstood the analogy. the point of the borg assimilation was that the borg acquired the technology and biology of the assimilated. they didn't invent technology of their own; most of their technology came from assimilating other species.

Yeah its really cool when you start cross upgrading units between civs. For example you can train a freak, upgrade him in an elven city for the forest movement, etc...

It makes me wish that each leader had a ascended version of themselves. "The Winter Queen will have Peace! Even if she must freeze Erebus still to achieve that Peace!"

You can also build Illian rituals with tolerant, meaning you can ascend.

Hmmm. Can you rush those rituals with the Axeman of Killmorph (forget his real name)?

Heroic Epic + Warrens + Axeman of Killmorph = insanely fast wonders.

Being able to throw all of your cities hammers into a wonder without any hammer loss (since each Dude of Killmorph contributes 1/2 of his hammers in rush building) is pretty amazing. I already do this with my Heroic Epic city to push out buildings (Courthouse/Library/Carnival/Whatever) in new cities when I don't have Slavery or any of the Cash-buy civics enabled. Sometimes even when I do...

It seems to me that building the Heroic Epic in a city with Warrens as the Elohim is a great way to get each civilization's unique buildings up and running very fast if you're running RoK.
