pholkhero has ducked out of his responsibilties. Again .

Can he find an interesting and original excuse?

"My PCs fried".

Obviously not ;).

But the show must go on....

PH15 not: Birds of a Feather.
Leader: Pericles of the Greeks
Rivals: 5 (Mehmed, pacal, biz, boudica, qsh)
Difficulty: Monarch
Map: Pangea, Natural Shoreline, Low Sea Level
Size: Standard
Speed: Normal
VC: All Enabled

Variant Rule:

* No-Cottage SE. The only exception is the capital. It may be cottaged, but may never generate GPPs (which includes those from wonders!)

* 8CC. The Greek Confederacy can only control eight (8) city-states, one dedicated to each Great Person, including Spy, Engineer, Merchant, Scientist, Artist, Priest, General as well as Athens, our capital. The GG city may ONLY build units or military-related buildings, i.e., Barracks, Stables, West Point, etc. Note: other cities can build these things, too, but the GG-city can ONLY build them.

* Each city will have a lag time before they must declare what kind of city they are, i.e., Spy, Merchant, etc. How long? I don't know yet ~

* Every Great Person we get can only be merged with its proper city.

* We must build The Parthenon.

Roster (following from PH15)

None of this 'let's spend a couple of days arguing over a variety of starts" multiple choice nonsense:

:wavey: Nice to see you try. Again . At least you now have a chance to actually win the game, now your captain highness isn't messing everything up :p Good Luck

Checking in!

Looks like a nice starting location, settling in place seems obvious if scout doesn't reveal anything spectacular.

Great start! I'll promise to write big note next to the screen: "NO NATIONAL EPIC IN SCIENCE CITY!"

Forge and the Factory should be open to the military city (Spartan Bronze until.... Spartan Rifles). As well as 1 temple (To invigorate our men!). That is probably enough.

EDIT: Don't make the Greek Mistake of placing Sparta one tile inland! Either on a coast or high and dry!

Is Charles Li volunteering to be The Shadow of Pholkhero?

Did the very standard 'move the scout 2 SE to stand on top of a hill' routine and this is what transpired:

ph15c20000.jpg

We could move 1SW on the off chance that the plains hill contains some tasty resource, we'd still keep the floodplains and resources but we'd lose the northern grasslands and don't know what we'd get down south in exchange. We'd also lose a turn.

I don't think there can be any resources on the starting spot. We'd also lose plains hill hammer bonus, so definitely settle in place.

open spot available for anyone who feels able to substitute for pholkhero
Does that mean you want a player that disappears all the time? :crazyeye:

I don't think I qualify then. :lol::lol:

Ok. Settle in place, build a worker, research mining then BW. See how long the scout survives (with my usual luck he'll be eaten by a wolf on turn 6).

We should also let that hut be popped by capital borders. At least there's bigger chance to get tech or money.

I also tempting to sub, but does a reliable person qualify?

"Go for it" said mr/ms Thy Spellcraft so I did. Not that there's any rush as far as I can see ;).

4000ad. Settle in place, build a worker, scout goes scouting, research mining (that's an opening that could be cut and pasted from a hundred games).

3880. Border pops hut for 28g.

3840. Scout discovers that a native hut is in fact a future tech cloning device.

3520. Scout clone pops a hut, these cloning devices are everywhere!
In the same turn uncloned/original scout finds another hut and becomes all Mystical.

3480. Mystical insights don't prevent original scout from becoming breakfast-for-bears.

3360. On the other hand mystical cloned scouts can survive at 0.0 health!

Somewhere in the middle of these bedazzling events mining turns into bronze-working (I being an experienced player naturally didn't look at the tech table and simply assumed that we started with agriculture instead of the highly desirable techs of hunting and fishing in the middle of a desert).

Also somewhere in the middle of these events Pacal's scout turned up from a vaguely south westerly direction. We are not alone.

More exploring. Worker completed, starts mining the gold, city builds a warrior (or our snivelling populace will be fearing for their safety! Don't they know that animals don't cross borders?), grows a few turns to pop 2 then starts settler. Worker spends a few turns doing nothing (no agric, no wheel etc) before bronze-working gives him an axe to start chopping forests.

A good player would have explored the northern coast properly coz we can't really dotmap without knowing if we have any seafood.

An excellent piece of real estate. A one tile strip of grassland between desert and tundra with lots of tangly jungle to the south.

Is that a test to see whether we read your reports thoroughly?

@Mystyfly: I cite the unchallengeable authority of Sister Maria in 'The Sound of Music'

:culture:Lets start at the very beginning.
Its a very good place to start.
When you read you begin with a b c
When you sing you begin with doh reh mi
but in civ you start at 4000 ad
:culture:

[Chorus] :culture:4000ad :culture:

Obviously (as can be seen from the report of cloning devices) the game started in the far future but the last hut-pop was a worm-hole propelling Greece (I want to live forever) into the Dawn of Civilisation.

On more trivial subjects:

Thy Spellcraft is UP.

I'm happy for both Diamondeye and LKEndter to join in at the end of the roster.

There is definitely too much seriousness in this team :p C'mon, this is a (sort of) pholk game... we should be partying with relief by having a save and not discussion minor things as 2 meansly letters :D

Awaiting Thy Spellcraft's 'Got It' to impart some gravitas.
