WW1 Railroad Artillery

Once again, very nice. Does anyone know how effective the huge railroad guns were? They seem just too big for the mud in France.

That is why they are called railroad guns, they traveled on the rails :)

Nice model, looking forward to the release of Blood & Iron :D

goog, it's a most dangrous artillery but now i can bomb the ennemies with this new one.

The unit is very nice,but:

*it is difficult to be used to battles cause these weapons travelled only in rails and it cant be used in many battles.in dales combat mod, might find a larger scale use.

However, its something that fills the ww1 Artillery group. If used, this unit requires huge resources and many hammers of production. These units were numbered in the fingers cause of their maintenance expenses.Of course they were extremely destructive, and whenever train artillery supported a field, just a few things remain at one piece in a battlefield.

Thnak you Snafu!

Now, if you could only take the time to create this little baby. Than my life would be complete.

I know that it is not exacly in the WW1 theme but the coolnes factor would be through the hevens.

Nice units (the field guns too) and quite a coincidence as I was thinking about doing an SPA, or Armored Artillery project. (I like how you did the train wheels and find that an interesting way to do certain objects.)

Historicaly rail guns where usually naval guns mounted on a rail chasis and have a slow rate of fire. (Perhaps one to four hours between rounds.) These were usually used to batter down extremely well fortified areas that were all but impregnable to howitzer bombardment. This might be a nice unit to Mod into the game as an expensive ultimate City Defense buster with a national unit limit and high maintenance cost. (That is, until we see how Snafusmith has Modded them into Blood and Iron.)

Awesome model snafu! just one question: is it possible to define with xml that this gun can only drive on railroads?

cheers

With xml not, but there's python modcomp wich do the work

Great work Smitty!
