RFC and patch 3.19

I suspect that anyone who hasn't patched RFC before will be able to play the 3.19 unpatched version fine. But that's only because unpatched RFC is an "official mod" and I doubt they would include a mod which you can't play, even in what's rumoured to be the last patch. I don't really know the situation.

The new patch has amended a lot of DLL code due to improvements to the AI, interface and other elements. That's why RFC does not work with it - RFC is using older functions in the DLL and the base game is probably asking the mod for "things" it doesn't have.

I loaded the 3.19 patch today and now RFC and any mods of RFC just open to an error message. Luckily I used system restore to get me back on 3.17 again and everything is OK again. I'd advise everybody NOT to load 3.19 if you want to run RFC.:(

jessiecat is right. Do not install 3.19 if you want to play a patched RFC. I'm sure Rhye will put out a quick update to this soon... pleeeeaaaassseee :)

I tried playing an RFC game as the Chinese with some interesting results after patching to 3.19. First of all, the city names weren't time-dynamic. Chang'an was named Xian even in antiquity, for example. Also, the game play felt off. Many civs were far more agreeable and allowed me to trade techs I'd never seen in any other game.

I hope Rhye patches to a new version soon, just to settle things out.

I've been working on a mod mod and you can imagine my surprise when I booted it up today to find a number of changes had been reverted and extra map files had appeared in my public maps folder etc. (my game is purchased through steam and thus updated automatically). The reason I post though is that my mod mod did not actually crash upon booting up even though it's based off of the most recent RFC mod and Panopticon's Protestantism mod (which both crash upon boot up). The mod mod is still unplayable as India wins a historical victory upon founding hinduism about 12 turns into the game and probably has countless other terrors awaiting a brave player, but if I can help Rhye troubleshoot the current problem, please let me know.

That's because the version included in 3.19 is dated. For example, you may notice that it uses the old Japanese UHV.

So what you're saying is that if I redownload the latest version of RFC, and install it again, I should be ok?

Nope. In this case there are two "latest versions". There's Rhye's (1.184), which will not work with 3.19 unless you update the DLL (it will crash before you get to the main menu). Then there is Firaxis's version, which is 1.181 updated for the 3.19 patch. If you don't care about not having Rhye's later changes you don't have to do anything. If you do, you have two choices: wait for 1.185, or reinstall BtS and use the 3.17 patch.

I hope to release the new version by the end of next week. I've not excaped yet from Elba

decently quick, but I feel sorry for the FfH2 crew...

Is there any place I can download the 3.19-updated version of RFC? I ask because I manually updated RFC a while ago, and I don't think that it would work correctly if it was changed by the patch.

Once it is updated (Rhye said by the end of the week; the computer he has access to doesn't have Civ4, that's why it will take a while), you can download it here.

Great news from RFC Europe. 3Miro has upgraded the mod so it's compatible with 3.19. So you can play our latest Alpha 1 version if you have installed the patch. Available now from the RFC Europe Files thread, page 1.:D

Aztecs and Incans aren't really supposed to be effective. I have seen Persia controlling the middle east from Turkey to western India until Arabia's spawn. Though I certainly agree that the Mongols are too weak.

Atzecs and Incas aren't destroyed often enough because of the exploring workboats or some **** like that. Often even if Europeans land, they often fail to make progress. I support adding more units to the Conquistadors.

The Atzecs shouldn't be so inept against Natives, though. Unfortunately, I don't know how to code the AI to see the Natives as more of a treat.
