It's exactly what it looks like. A 18th or 19th Century cannon armed simple star shaped fortification.
I know it's useful to a lot of you.

That's very cool. The animations and look are great.:goodjob::)

Great idea, excellent unit, great fantasy. I like it very much! Only one thing: the building in the middle of the fort seem to be "modern"; it's possible to put a more ancient building? (1700/1800)

Actually, the building located inside is similar to the multi-level barrack blocks espoused by Vauban in the late 1600s, except that it is octagon rather than square. In that, it resembles the multi-level Swedish towers built by Dahlberg around 1700 or the multi-level coastal fortress design that was espoused by the Frenchman Montalembert in the late 1700s, which was adopted by the US for its masonry coastal fortification building during the 1800s. The US coastal fortifications tended to be pentagon in shape however.

Wyrmshadow, have you seen or do you own the book on Castles by Sidney Toy, reprinted by Dover Books, or any or the series of books on fortresses written by Chris Duffy, the book Strongholds of the Realm which covers English fortress building, or one of the books on fortresses written by Ian Hogg? Those would have many very good drawings and pictures to supply inspiration to you and other graphics creators.

Have you ever seen some pictures of Fort Drum, located at the entrance to Manila Bay and part of the Manila harbor defenses? That would be a very interesting one to do as well. Another would be the Gota Lejon Tower at Goteborg in Sweden.

Overall, an exceedingly well done unit. Definitely a Three Thumbs up production.

No. I found this model a while ago and last night I was sorting a bunch of my models and I rediscovered this.

You mean this?

The main problem I see is that we cannot force to have only one, except as preplaced unit.

True, but if you look at Vauban's designs, there are any number of outlying fortifications; indeed, I'm not yet certain whether to make these immobile or immobile with that "cheat" paradrop ability.

Best,

Oz
