Hello and welcome to the Prince Cliche. I'm your host, Civmonger, and today we will be playing arguably the best leader in the game, Darius. Prioritize horses, as the immortal will crush nearly all classical soldiers. Use this unit effectively and you can pave a great early game investment for more territory in the late game. Apothocaries,
i'll say this much, build them if you have to, flood plain cities especially. The only suck I can find is that his starting techs aren't that great, having to research mining can be a pain! If you've read my previous thread about Darius, give this game a try!

Sorry I didn't load a WB save. I SWEAR i'll do it next time. We will play on epic that should be at least SOME balance between normal and marathon. But to be Organized let's all post pics at 1AD, just to see how everyone is doing. Here's the start. Civ4ScreenShot0043.JPG

Oh my Gosh! This is the best map i've ever played (so far.) here are some pics at 1AD.

Spoiler :
I had no problem killing brennus, he's spiritual and charsmatic, and he basically "biult" cities for me. Another sweet sweet thing about this is that we were the only people on the landmass. I wish I could have conquered more!:king:. But the Raging barbiarians laid my problem. I had no time to spawnbust, as there was about 1 to 2 barbs invading each city at one time. There was this one spearman that really made me mad. I lost all my 5 or so "Brennus Veterans" on one spear. THe best map I've ever played so far!:)

i'm glad that someone else pointed this out as well!!!

This is OT, Has anyone even played the game yet? I won't post anymore pics/saves if not.

Some tips.
- Upload WB saves.
People like to play different levels and speeds and this one is at Marathon. A lot of people wouldn't play an EPIC game, let alone Marathon. I know I wouldn't play it.

- You hosted PCI 6 days ago and PCII 2 days ago. Not many people are going to play a new game every 2 days. Wait a week or two between games.

- Post a nice screen of the start, not the tiny thumbnail.

- And tell us the settings. Map size, barbs, events, stuff like that.

@CivIVMonger:

My opinion is that this series is going a little too fast. I mean, it was like a game a day or something like that. You still have people playing the PCII, like KaytieKat and pigswill. I<3PWG said on his thread:
i recently made the move to prince and i fell behind on the prince clique games. i'm playing the joao game whose thread has gone dead. in the hope of gaining some feedback nonetheless i'm posting this with a very detailed blow by blow of how i made decisions as the game went along.

If you give people more time, host the discussion of their games and post a WB file to allow different speeds you might get more people joining your series.

It would also be nice if you posted your games here in different points to allow the other prince players to compare their games to yours.

Another nice thing would be if you posted big screenshots. You could open a free account on Photobucket.

BTW, It's real nice to see you're really commited to making this work!:goodjob:

Edit: what Ai Shikuza said. (posted while I was typing)

Sorry, I'm new to it. The often posting is due to the exitement of a new series.
The next game WILL contain a WB save or I will not post it, and I do not know how to fix the small screenshot. I can't download photobucket, (don't ask why.);). Is there a way to post large screenshots without downloading anything new? The Next game should include a WB save, Large screenshots, and they will be spaced out. The Next game should be up by Saturday, and will be hosted every week from then on. I'll try not to be a disgrace to everyone next time...

That start looks mental, bit too easy with financial too. I would play it but I can't do marathon it drives me nuts with the amount of turns. Get a WB save up, I'm sure there's a tutorial around here somewhere how to do it. :)

I suggest picasa.google for screenies as it comes with a nice upload client software. :)

Played up to 1ad (prince marathon):
Spoiler :
The starting location was ok but a bit of exploration revealed a decent size desert and a large ice-cap, perfect for breeding barbarians but useless for settling cities.

To compound my misery this speck of land contained one, yes one, AI. Semi-isolated starts. I hates them. Brennus to boot. Not all bad though, a quick trip to AH revealed some nearby horses so four or five immortals later its goodbye Brennus (2120bc).

Wonders were falling fast overseas, stonehenge and great wall disappeared before 2000bc, the pyramids got built in 1640 and great lighthouse in 1160. WTH?
I managed to get Oracle in 1660bc and nabbed CoL for cheap courthouses and confucianism for free. The cascade of overseas wonders slowed down rapidly and reports came in of great generals being born overseas. Religious wars, gotta love them when you ain't involved.

Then a steady stream of fogbusters followed by a few settlers. Up to 11 cities now, only three sites left for fishing villages. Managed to nab Great Library which is nice, generated a prophet for Kong Miao, just got my first GS to realise that I have to research alphabet before I can lightbulb philosophy.

Its not easy being incompetent.

Only consolation is that the AI are even dumber than I am.

If I can adjust to the marathon pace I might go for space. I'm getting a bit bored with military victories to be honest. Diplomacy's too clever for me and cultural is too fiddly.
