Are you paranoid about blooming REX topic these day ? If so, this is your thread :D
To be clear, I don't deny REX as a very powerful strategy. I just want to show reletively new players out there that it is not the only way to win, even on high difficulty.
Of course , we have some rule here :

All map are Standard size, Speed is Epic, Difficulty is Emperor + .
Options : Events are off, hut on, choose religion.

1. You are limited to 6 cities BEFORE you have your SOD (i.e Grans/Canon or Rifle/trebs). Early rush is acceptable as long you have 6 cities. When you finally start real war, you can only have 10 city max. You have to either raze or give back the extra cities.
2. Conquest/Domination is the only way for you to win. However, all victory conditions are available to the AIs.

Since my English , skill level are limited, I hope more players to take this series for more enjoyment and much better overall play. But I have to start first, dont I? In order to prevent a disasterious start for this series , I shall play Pascal, EMPEROR , Terra/7 AIs. As most of the online games here, I'm looking forward for your advice !
Sorry I only have 3.17.
How to upload pics directly here. The IMG tag doesnt seem working -_-

The start ,seem good for a exp leader

will be keenly following... tho im a struggling monarch player, until rifles/cannons i like to have no more than 8 cities...emperor is jst too scary though

As I play with Random Events "On" I like to have at least 7 cities just so I can qualify for the "build 7 Xxxxxxx's quests." Still, I will be thrilled to see the strategeries that you use to play the AIs off against each other, which I am sure is a major part of this mode of play.

I'm not fond of the thread myself. 6 cities is always enough (look my Sig) but that doesn't mean squat. The important thing is to play the map in conjunction with your leader and level. Sometimes that can mean as little as 5 cities by 1AD (Boxed in on Deity sucks) or as many as 15-18 cities by 1AD (Darius/Rome).

we all know that, the thing is lot of new players dont think they can win without spamming cities , so that what this serie is about
I played yesterday while I was watching Federer playing, it was so long and intense final , I keep press Enter while watching haha . Thus I played really sloppy but I guess
it still not too bad , one thing is I'll play Immortal next game. AIs on Emp so annoying.

at work now will update soon.:goodjob:

Sorry for being late . The sad thing is I played the wrong map, the map I post was a Continent map. I only realize after Mansa meet me (which I nuked him to death in the end, for fun :D)
so I set up a new game: Emperor, Terra,Epic,Standard,Hut On,Choose Religion,6 AIs
and the start

Spoiler :

EXP leader has more chance to star at flood plain ? I dont know :D

Civ4ScreenShot0000.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0115.jpg

I can easy Liberism pre 500 now if I want . After Philosophy, what's next ?

So technically something like:

1. Build 6 cities
2. Catapult + whatever somebody for 4 cities (keep the best ones, gift the others back after capitulation).
3. Finish when you get a tech lead, or just tech to infantry + arty and switch to all-out production since infantry/arty/AT beats everything the AI can make until modern armor/gunships.

Would be legal based on your rules?

Also, what if a catapult rush IS your "real war", in that you fully intend to win conquest or domination starting with classical war and never truly stopping? I've done it on immortal so I'm sure it can be done on emp.

For more interesting strategy and play style , the rule is now simple : You can only have 10 max cities at all time AND you can only build at most 5 settlers. Should I change the topic to : 5 settlers is enough ? :D
btw the real stuff will be on Immortal. I play this Emperor game as a "warm up" for this series. Will play and update when i get back home from work tonite :)

I stop play this game after this. I guess Emperor is a little too easy, even with 6 cities :goodjob: Proof that financial is the best trait, CE is the best economy and you only need 2 great scientist the whole game . Btw I only have 1 gold mine this game and it is in my 4th city ;)
Enough warm up, I'll play an Immortal game tommorow

85 AD 11 turn from Liberism
