Welcome again Comrades to the story of the United Soviet Socialist Republics where I Vladimir Lenin shall show the world the power of the Soviet people and the folly of the Capitilistic west. Previous time we did not do so good as the Apostalic Palace ruined out game and we perhaps played too cautiously against the Stupid Greek Arabs.

Bah, we were too soft on Soviet people that time and need to exploit them, I mean benefit from their strengthes more this time!

We also need to be a bit more Pragmatic in our approach, at least when we need to be!

SO once again if all need motivation

No pretty songs or misidentification this time. We are serious and mean business!

So as I said, This is the United Soviet Socialist Union and we shall prove it to all. A few simple guidelines that determine our Philosphy with changes in bold

1) We adopt no state religion, construct no religious buildings, missionaries, Prophet producing Wonders, or adopt religious civics. We tolerate religions in our cities or captured cities as they are the Opiate of the people, and Holy Cities may be spared for the extra income if captured. Consider this Soviet religious indifference.

2) Production is the strength of the Soviet Union, power of the masses. Farms/mines early in the games with a shift towards workshops/watermills/windmills/lumbermills by the end. Let the work see how strong Soviet People truely are.

3) The following practices are banned as a violation of the Soviet Philosophy: Heritary Rule/Universal Sufferage/Vassalage/Free Speech/Serfdom/Free Market/Environmentalism/Religious Civics. Slavery is now allowed

4) The Power of the State is greater than Capitalism. No cottages or banks may be constructed or kept after liberation of enemy cities. Merchant Specialists may be run, and wonders that produce Great Merchants ( Great Lightouse and Colossus are OK) built. We may trade gold as best suites the Soviet Union.

So we are in fact an Organized and Philosophical Nation based on model of Mother Russia.

The Map is random as we do not know what to expect in the world.

Our difficulty is Monarch and Speed is Epic (new for an RPC!)

So the new Map

I think this may play out much different than last time. Not as much land to exhaust Soviet treasury!

hmm ... is that an iceberg i'm seeing in the southen fog?

I believe so, and tundra to the west. The random map god's apparently have punished Lenin by sending him to Siberia!

I missed on the resource icons here. There are 2 crabs E, SE , 1 corn due north, 1 fish north of the corn.

I've been out of action for a week so missed the first take. I'll possibly shadow this if I get time today or tomorrow.

I can't see the seafood easily, so I'll put it this way: If that is seafood 2N, then settle in place, otherwise I'd tend toward 1S.

In place looks best then. This is a tremendous amount of food. You could probably play it similarly to the lincoln RPC, except with more war :p.

Bulbing to lib steel or communism could give all the tech needed to mop the world up.

Seems like with PHI and no HR, that if you can find stone reasonably nearby, mids would be useful in this game. I don't build it that often, but the beakers and happiness need to come from somewhere.

Is Lenin allowed to build an egyptian wonder?

EDIT: I played a few turns and wow. Just Wow. This is going to be really fun to watch.

Yes he is and I like the idea of the pyramids. I probably should have targeted it teh first time.

That's a crazy good start, Mad. Lucky Lenin!

Doesn't look like brilliant surrounding land, though.

You don't know the half of it yet! I played to 200 AD, and I'm really anxious to see how Mad faces this challenge. No doubt this'll be a fun one to watch.

Looks like another one city space attempt for me. Not sure whether I'll turn on OCC or not. Of course, much better chance of me winning with OCC on.

In the last one I weakened Alexander too much and Hatty became a tech beast late once she cleared the jungle...and having Ghandi off continent didn't help either.

Thanks for hosting as always. :) I enjoy these RPC games.

Chairman Lenin's New Deal: Early Soviet Exploration

Welcomes Comrades!

A very different tale for the Soviet peoples than last time, but we will not dwell on the past. The future of the Soviet Union is the future!

We start by sending noble Russian Scout off to explore before we make momentous decision where to begin.

LeninIIA0000.jpg

We are not too impressed.

SO since we are on a small river allowing increased production later, we decide this good place for Moscow.

We then explore a bit more with Russian Scout, and

LeninIIA0001.jpg

COmrades, I am not impressed! The Soviet peoples are a tough group, but this is ridiculus. No it will not work and we shall direct our research to leave this Siberian Island.

Techpath went: fishing/sailing/agriculture/Bronze Working/Animal Husbandry/Masonry/Wheel. Not a bad group at all!

Our Noble Russian Scout, besides making excellent Soviet Maps, found 158 gold from native huts once they were told of the future glories of Soviet Union. They also gave the Soviet People.

LenninIIA0000.jpg

We then build a galley soon and send off Russian Scout to explore NE islands.

LeninIIA0002.jpg

Not so bad, but not really good land to demonstrate true power of Soviet Production. Yes, there is food but few hills and too much desert. However, I should not be greedy, the land is what the land is, and we do have copper! We send Russian Scout off to explore some more.

After researching Animal Husbandry we find.

LeninIIA0003.jpg

Ah, this is good! The backs of the Soviet peoples shall be less strained with teh production assistance of these noble beasts! With Horses and 2 plains mines and excess food Soviet People of Moscow will be very productive! IF they can be happy enough!

But first things first Comrades, we need metal to defend the Soviet People. From who I do not know, but they are out there.

LeninIIA0004.jpg

I fear this city will never be strong, but a 5 population city may be all we get early in this game.

At this point, we saved to thin about the next tech to research.

LeninIIA0005.jpg

We did a map of the land for future Soviet Colonization.

LeninIIA0007.jpg

(OK folks, how do I get that nice Buggs mapping feature, I cannot find it!)

I think Petrograd should get an archer fast as our scout saw some barbarian archers meandering around and 1 warrior is not enough defense. Then a worker and perhaps a temperary settler pump.

In Moscow I think we should go full speed at the Great Lighthouse. Given the start I think it's the most "Pragmatic" solution to a difficult map. With this wonder the Soviet will have ample commerce from trade to build up our production base!

Also I think Noble Russian Scout should explore the eastern island more, perhaps we shall find some happiness resources, something besides seafood, corn and sheep!

Research! I think Mysticism, but perhaps writing first. Petrograds first border pop is not going to get us much, so that is not so important. Still, there is no Lenin Statue yet and that is just plain wrong Comrades!

If there was ever a GLH/Colossus map, this is it. Can Lenin run a trade route/settled merchant economy in the late game, or is that against the ideals of the Soviet people?

I am not sure what Lenin should do with Great Merchants. Running merchant specialists and building the Colossus and GLH is Pragmatic enough. Sending JD Rockefeller off on a trade Mission for 1000's of gold seams too capitalist for my tastes. Settling him seams worse. I think I will pump scientist specialists in the GLH city and see if I can force a GS out instead and use any GMs I get for Golden Ages.

That is awful land. I would have restarted having seen that island :D

You need to look at my Classic RPCs games, especialliy the "Willem King of the Sea" and Isabella games to see how stubbornly I can play out the worse starts! I may give up on a lost cause game but I always try and play it out!

The biggest challenge is happiness it seems. With no HR, and if you don't get pyramids for rep, unless you find some major happiness resources on other islands, unhappy faces will be prevalent, which means worker/settler pumps and mass settling of islands (great synergy with GLH and Colossus).

Aiee, these starts kill me. 1E would be a much better city for Moscow, though no going back now. I'm guessing/hoping you're planning to build the GLH next in Moscow, in which case research should probably be Writing to run scientists after it's done. At least the trade economy will compensate for lack of cottages in this map. Currency should be a priority tech soon (another vote for writing next, though mysticism should probably come after that). Good luck!

For mid-game I think you have to decide whether to head towards Optics/Astro or to Lib. Will probably depend on more exploration though.
