NOW INCLUDES SHADERED VERSION!!! :D

After several failed attempts to make a leaderhead, I have finally completed one: Menelik II of Ethiopia. This is the man who should have led Ethiopia, not Zara. Seriously special thanks to Ekmek, who's tutorial really helped, as well as answering a desperate question I had.

Looks good! I would download it, but I already have too many leaders. I will keep this one as an option, though.

First Mecha-leaderhead :goodjob:.

Looking at the files/the base leaderhead, i'm sure, you've transplanted something (nose, lips) from another leaderhead (shaka?), am i right?
Looks definetly different to the existing leaderheads, good work :goodjob:.

It's Shaka's head. Ekmek's tutorial explained how to change the shape of body parts. The pics of Menelik I found showed him with a beaky nose, and Shaka's is fat, so I modified it.

The Beard is Ragnar's and the hair is Julius's. Obviously the body is the Burger King's.

Bravo!

Great work man, the only suggestions I'd make though are to tighten up his hair and beard, you can see some empty space between them. It isn't difficult to do, in Blender you just use the scale on axis feature (and remember to apply the new scaling or it won't export). It shouldn't take you more than ten minutes to do this.

Great work though.

Meh. I tried to edit it, but it never came out just right.

First Mecha-leaderhead :goodjob:.

Definitely not the last though. I'm proud of this guy, and i'm already making plans to make someone else. For another civ that needs another leader....

Pretty good for a first leaderhead. My only issue is that it's a bit too colorful, but that's more of an aesthetic preference than an actual problem, so don't worry about that.

At this rate, we'll start having way too many leaderheads to choose from. :)

My favourite part is the cape- looks really unique with the lion. A great idea. I decided to add it to my game eventually, so I might also try and fix the beard issue.

Thanks, it's the Lion of Judah, and it took me quite a while to remove it from the Ethiopian flag.

Wow, that's pretty awesome! Would also work for Lalibela and Afonso I of Kongo.

Hmmm... I'm not so sure, because he's only wearing the Ethiopian flag which has the Lion of Judah on it...

And that's not even counting his background: the Battle of Adwa.

Oh well...we can ignore that and the background is easily changed :)

I am making a Lalibela as we speak (I'll release it along with Askia and Cetshwayo) so if you are going to use it for someone else I'd go for Afonso, although I am not sure how Congolese this guy looks.

He doesn't look Congolese to me.

What I'd do to fix the beard is merge the vertices on the edge of the beard to one on the face. Just select the beard vertice then the face vertice, hit 'w', choose 'merge', and select 'at last'. That's how I attached the beard on my William lh, and it turned out okay, aside from some clipping that I fixed by texturing his face.

Otherwise :goodjob:

OK, this patch should add shaders to Menelik and fix his beard problem. Just copy these files to the Menelik II directory and overwrite whatever's needed.
