Monarch Student Prime - Bullpen

Insert witty commentary here. Someday there will be more maps. I can't promise bronze, iron and horse in each new map. Also, Catherine will be on every map.

Thanks AiShizuka for hosting the old Monarch Student series, of which this was the index/bullpen: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=317468

01 - Elizabeth of England (8/27/09)
* Good leader and civ to start the new series.
* Financial, Philosophical and Redcoats. A potent combination.
* Map: Cold Fractal

02 - Augustus Caesar of Rome (9/2/09)
* Industrious and Imperialistic = build build build. Praetorians = attack attack attack!
* Map: Temperate Pangaea

03 - Sitting Bull of Native America (9/9/09)
* Imagine a world without flood plains. WORST MAP EVAR!
* Map: Ice Age Narrow Continents

04 - Tokugawa/Hammurabi of Japan (9/15/09)
* A killer map... but at least Vanilla players can play!
* BtS players can choose the "unrestricted leaders" save and relive Toku's glory days of AGG/ORG.
* Map: Temperate Lakes "Low Seas"

05 - Justinian of Byzantium (9/22/09)
* Uncle Sam wants you to beeline Guilds.
* Map: Temperate Fractal

06 - Willem van Oranje of the Netherlands (9/29/09)
* Explore new worlds with the awesome Dutch unique unit. Employ a standing army to survive in the old world.
* Map: Tropical Continents "High Seas"

07 - Napoleon of France (10/8/09)
* Why isn't there a CHM/CRE leader? Is it just as broken as IND/PHI? Or ORG/PRO? Didn't think so.
* Map: Tectonics "Earthlike Wet Aridity"

08 - Bismarck of Germany (10/15/09)
* Marble vs Stone... which is better? You decide.
* Map: Continental Highlands

09 - Darius of Persia (10/24/09)
* One of the best leaders. With horse nearby. What could possibly go wrong? ...or would you rather pick Cyrus instead? :lol:
* Map: Arid Fractal

10 - Wang Kon of Korea (11/2 or 3/09)
* Wang's UU doesn't kill any units unless attacked. It's a pacifist!
* Map: Temperate Pangaea "Low Seas"

11 - Suryavarman of Cambodia (???)
* It's about time for a water map, don't you think?
* Map: Temperate Archipelago "Snaky Continents"

12 - Washington of America (???)
* Discovery Channel: Exploit your world...
* Map: a wacky one, maybe Tilted Axis or Arboria or Donut

13 - Ramesses of Egypt (???)
* Wonder addiction: If you quit now, you can add years to your life.
* Map: Tropical Terra

14 - Boudica of Celtia (???)
* Welcome to another episode of Extreme Mountain Climbers...
* Map: Rocky Fractal

C'mon everyone knows that darius is even better :D
Playing Rome on Pangea/Marathon is pure cheating.

Thanks Ai. :D

We just finished a Financial one. Can't be Financial again haha.
And with the Evil Neighbor I have in mind... :lol:
I hope I end up with still an "easy" Monarch map though. Ya know, can't start with the killer ones until #3.

killer map! killer map! *chants*

I have been wanting to try marathon soon... :) I can never get enough war exp. If we were financial last than let's be aggressive this time! :D

We could go for The Mongol Empire for a good use of horses. Pangea for war abuse and huge.

Trick everyone. Give them AC, but then start them isolated and with no marble/stone.

How about a rigged "Balanced" resource game for all the fun of a diverse military!

Next to Mehmed on a 2 civ island, undersized, with no iron/stone/marble. The other leaders all are ones that start with mysticism and better commerce starts than Mehmed. Lets see, give the barbs on the island 5 modern armor that run on the barbarian animal AI. Oh and find a way to use the internet to kick any male players in the balls immediately upon downloading the map.

@Murky: Industrious... IT'S A TRAP! Every hammer in wonders is one less hammer in praetorians.
I would love to see someone build no wonders at all (maybe except Oracle for Metal Casting), build fast forges, then start the ownage right there.

Well I already said Pangaea. :lol:

Oh screw the good leader, killer map, I have an idea for Sitting Bull, it will be next after August(us Caesar). :lol:

I wonder if a game setting like Unrestricted Leaders will be too "weird" for a "learning" series like this one. The game I have in mind is... let me give examples of who will be in it: Gandhi of Arabia, Pacal of England, Hammurabi of Japan, Will Orange of Russia, Darius of USA, Ragnar of Inca, Mehmed of Rome.

I found the wonders to be game saving additions to the praetorian spam. Stonehenge is STILL expanding the borders of captured cities well into the time of cannons and rifles. The pyramids (which I built assuming that I could get some gold from failing) pretty much saved the economy by letting me actually research a couple things to trade my way back into the tech race. The Great Lighthouse, of all things, added 20+ commerce per turn while I was dealing the the stupid Greeks.

In other words, just a couple wonders built when I couldn't really afford any more units, but didn't want to stop wars to completely build an economy, really did the trick.
