OCC Peacefull space racers

For those of you who had enough war, enough double move controvercy and backstabbing and for those who want to try something different I present the OCC peacefull space racers challenge.

If you chose to accept the challenge, your purpose will be one and only one, to reach the stars faster than anyone else!

Size: small
era: ancient
Game speed: quick
Pitboss timer: 16 hours

OCC
Always peace

Unrestricted leaders
No tech trading
No barbs
No huts
No random events
No espionaze
Winning conditions: space race only

Extra rules
No privateers
No nukes
No open border agreements
No trading resources & gold
No Pyramids
No great library
No internet
No space elevator
To launch the spaceship you must have all 5 cassings (to eliminate luck factor)



In this game you will be you your 1 city and your island with only purpose to reach the stars. Everyone will have the same island (all the island not just the BFC) and it will propably be rich in food. Typically you will have 3 seafood, 3-4 other food resources and maybe gold, marble etc...it depends every time.
If you intend to play I suggest you try the map (OCC) and see how having alot of food works in OCC.

Do we chose the leader too? This is ancient start right? Instead of banning mids/glib etc, how about just banning all wonders? This sounds rather relaxing and not too timeconsuming. In occ always peace, why bother with 24 hours timer? Sounds long to me. Why ban nukes when we can't go to war anyways? Do everyone have coastal start or non-coastal?
 
Nice idea. I was originally worrying about balance (I mean, what if one person gets a capital with 4 gems and stone and is mostly grassland but the other has a coastal capital with only 6 land tiles or something) but I see you've fixed the problem.

I'll play. I have no time for single player games because of school but multiplayer can work especially with OCC since the turns will be shorter. I'll think of a leader soon and let you know.

Question: Why no open borders?

After testing the map, it seems like this map script doesn't clear bad tiles out of a capital's BFC (any way to fix this, considering it's a OCC?). I started a game and had 3 mountain tiles in my starting location. My capital was coastal (no seafood though) with 3 water tiles and only had 2 furs, 1 deer, 1 sheep, and the rest grasslands (with a couple of forests). It was riverside. The island itself was big enough to have room for 4 decent cities or 6 cramped cities. After further regeneration, it seems like the script always starts capitals by the coast with at least 3 water tiles.

I suggest that for this game Indiansmoke regenerates the map until we get a high food start (more fun that way).

We chose leaders of course.

Wonders no point banning them all, we need some flavor, just the overpowered ones.

Nukes are banned so we don't get nuking next to some civ ruinning his land.

And everyone ges the exact same start and yes it is coastal. try the map script.

Timer we can have less sure.

You have to chose resources extra when you create the map.

It's true you can get the odd mountan and desert (oil) in your BFC, but then again eveyone gets the same start.

No open borders because of trade routes, they are a huge income with such big capitals and it is not fair.
 
Everyone will be getting trade routes, unless someone happens to act like Tokugawa.

But I'm fine with either option.

Well, usually people tend to close borders with the tech leader and open with backwards players, you don't need to be tokugawa to do that!

This game (if it ever starts since interest is low) is about winning it by yourself not with the help of others.

Hi cast bender, pitboss is easy, you will get used to it in no time.

I'm quite intrested although I'm not an OCC expert. Could this be done using relatively short timer e.g. 15-18h. In this kind of game queuing up things should work quite well so losing a turn or 2 every now and then wouldn't be that bad.

There has been no post for quite a while now. What about starting with less than 7 players? I would rather play with less people than wait endlessly.
