I start game with 8000 + settlers

I was editing around a downloaded civ, trying change a couple of things, such as the city list, and adding new UU's (from another mod :)) And everything works fine, except when I start the game with the civilization, I start with over 8000 settlers!

I checked with other civ's after that, and they work perfectly fine, so it is just this one.

I checked the Civname_CIV4Civilizationinfo.xml file, and it seemed perfectly fine!

Oh...not sure, I've just started recently editing WBS-

Where do all those sttlers appear? All on the same tile? Then, if so, probably all you have to do is open WBS in Wordpad, find the plot and choose the number of settlers (assuming this feature is like I am saying, I am not sure, but it would be more logical).

Yah, but I don't want to start any game like that. Especially if the AI starts with the amount of settlers. I don't want to have to go to Worldbuilder every game, cheating myself just to delete a bug.
 
Try making the Civ again.

Did. First I changed the encoding because it wasnt working with the old one. I saved and played and it was fine. Went back and edited the citylist reloaded mode and error. went back to the previous working change(the encoding) and this time changed the UU entry and I got the same problem.

Please show us the complete entry.

By that you mean the whole XML file?

:bump: Im a little eager to start modding soon, before my courses start, anyone can give aid on this?
 
Perhaps you should change the first line to

<?xml version="1.0"?>

instead of

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>


As the default one is like the first one.

The very first line in all the XML files should look like this:

I suspect you do not have that.
 
My only other advice at this time is:

Check your log files.

The only error in xml.log that is expected is a lot of "info type NONE not found, Current XML file is: ..." type messages.

I'm assuming to delete them if I find any?

edit: Where will the XML.log file be? I'm using a mod of coarse. never mind found it after like 3 seconds. :lol:

I found no such lines in the file.
 
I notice it the file does not mention a Schema.

<Civ4CivilizationInfos>

should be

<Civ4CivilizationInfos xmlns="x-schema:CIV4CivilizationsSchema.xml">
 
I got an error message...

Failed Loading XML file modules/costomcivilizations/venezuela/civilizations/venezuela_civ4civilizationinfos.xml.

when I put the line in. I believe I didn't had it in earlier because I took it off because it wasn't allowing me to pass the error message....
