[img=right]Congratulations to The-Hawk for the highest score of the update with a Huge Prince Domination game for 1,272,227 points.

This game wasn't a #1 for its VC, but that's because the goal was obviously score. I consider this the greatest score achievement ever, on any difficulty. It also shows that the theoretical 2 million is probably doable on Immortal or Deity.

Score games on Huge maps require a huge time. So it's the main limit. I think 1.5M or even 2M are available for Prince also.

I made some calculations - 1M is ok for Small Prince game, but Huge map has double potential against Small (3+ times more lands but only ~1.5 times less pop score multiplier for finish near turn 650 - 1510AD on Marathon).

Thanks WT.

Yes, this score could be improved easily, it really was a mediocre map (sushi-wise). My 1 Mn noble game had way more sushi resources, but I was still figuring out how to really milk so I didn't really take advantage of it (too many mistakes).

RE: Your comment on Immortal/Deity. Does score get modified based on level? If so, what is the math?

The biggest challenge I've had has been crashes... after submitting this game, I had an excellent emperor-level game going, pretty sure I would have smoked this score. Then had a game crash and lost it all. Probably 50-60 hours of game time down the tubes

Dynamic, the biggest limiting factor in these games is Corp execs. You can only have 5 at a time, so it takes many turns to spread on a huge map. Very hard to finish early.

I was going to say the same thing about huge maps. Spreading so many cities/corps is tough. There's an old thread where I tried to argue that Huge is the wrong map to attempt highest score. I never had the patience to try and prove my point...or figure out which map size is best.

RE: score and difficulty,
It's 20% more score each level. So score multiplier on Noble is 1.0, prince 1.2, deity 2.0, etc.

Nice tool, thanks for posting.

The multiplier for level makes for some interesting trade-offs. I suppose Deity will ultimately provide the highest score, but who knows? IMHO, Mids are huge in these games, also rapid expansion. Maybe Immortal will be the sweet spot.

My limited experience with mapsize says Huge is best. I tried one small noble game and was not able to come close to 1 Mn. I've been able to keep the rate of corp expansion high enough to allow me to spread them to all cities without eroding score. This makes the extra cities available on Huge worthwhile. But I understand WT's arguments and this was just a single game test. Problem is there are so many moving parts that I don't know how to really come to a firm conlusion.

In spite of the obvious incentive to go to highest levels, I'm going to try emperor first. The top score on the emperor table is begging to be improved. Also allows me to continue to refine my strategies.

Immortal after that unless game crashes finally frustrate me too much. Between my lost emperor game and an earlier lost prince game, my success rate is not good.

You should be able to get one crash/game and still have it accepted. There was a discussion on this not too long ago. A marathon Time game might (should) be allowed a 2nd crash even.

The problem is these turns are so long. In my prince game, I think I needed to make something like 30-40 actions in trying to reconstruct the turn it crashed. I ran that crash by Denniz, his opinion is there was too much replaying even within that one turn. I have no problem with that opinion, almost impossible for me to be sure I replayed everything the same. The emperor crash was similar, came late in a long turn (I did not even take that one to Denniz).
