Tested and Known to work:
+2 Free Advances
Requires Elite Naval Units
Requires Victorious Army

Does not seem to work:
City Growth Cause +2 Citizens (Instead of +1)
Doubles Research Output
+Trade in Each Trade-Producing Tile
+2 Ship Movement
Gain Any Advances Owned by 2 Civs

I started this thread, because I inadvertently stumbled upon this while doing some play testing. Here was the original statement I made of what happened:

I had to re-start anyways, because I ran into a strange bug (one that actually may be very useful to some). Seems that I kept getting 2 free advances every time I built a certain building (Altar of Air). When I finally realized it was this building, I checked the BIQ and although it is an improvement (not a Wonder), there was a check mark still in the '+2 Free Advanced' under the Wonders and Small Wonders section (which was greyed out since the building was an Improvement.

Seems that anything checked still works for Improvements as well, of course none of the other Wonder/Sm Wonder options have been tested, but I had to uncheck it so I don't get all those Free Advances.

As you can see, in this image, on the Improvements and Wonders tab, the current building is an Improvement, and the +2 Free Advances is checked on the Wonders and Small Wonders list. This area is greyed out because it should not apply since the building is an improvement. But IT DOES give +2 Free Advances regardless everytime this building is built.

I have not tested all the other selections, but I would assume they may possibly all work like this. This could give greater variety of buildings if you do not wish them to be actual Wonders or Small Wonders.

Assuming this is a bug, but could be a useful bug.

Many probably can't be used more than once, but some can such as Doubling Defenses, Doubling Scientific Output, Tourist Attraction, +1 Trade in Each Tile, Reduces Corruption, as well as the ones you mentioned above. Of course, these would have to be tested to ensure they work.

If anyone tests any of these and finds they do indeed work for sure, post here and I'll add it to the first post.

So, has anyone been able to do some serious testing on this?

inb4 'do it yourself,' I've been far too busy this weekend for civing.

I will see what I can do this week on this. Not sure if it is a good thing or not, but it definitely does open up new possibilities if it works.

I was unable to get these to work when set to improvement instead of Wonder/Sm Wonder:

City Growth Cause +2 Citizens (Instead of +1)
Doubles Research Output
+Trade in Each Trade-Producing Tile
+2 Ship Movement
Gain Any Advances Owned by 2 Civs

It may possibly be a bug in which only the +2 Free Advances works.. I will test a few more. It's also possible I didn't test these out correctly, so I may have missed something.

EDIT: "Requires Elite Naval unit" works.
EDIT: "Requires Victorious Army" works.

EDIT: The Doubles City Defense seems to not work. After it was built, I had 30 warriors attack 30 warriors in the town (un-fortified on 20% defensive bonus ground), and the end result was 14 attackers left and 16 defenders left... somewhat consistent with 20% bonus, and not 40% doubled bonus. I'm not sure if the Double City Defense Bonus applies to all defensive bonus' or only things like Walls, etc.

Yes! After so many years since the game came out we're still discovering new tricks to customize it ;)

Doubles City Defenses doubles the effect of improvements like Walls (those that give a defensive combat bonus and a bombard bonus).
