There were many who shot for the stars this month. :yup:

However, Dhoomstriker negotiated his way to a Gold Medal with a Diplomatic victory.

Of the 37 submissions, only five were defeats. :goodjob: Congratulations to all who played this challenge.

And thank you for some great reading in the spoilers!

Here's where everyone settled.

The Small Print:
The numbers by each player's name indicate the turn settled on (starting turn is 0). Players are colour coded by game class (challenger=red, adventurer=blue). Symbols indicate victory condition, if there's no symbol then the player either retired or was defeated. The yellow border indicates the land that was visible at the start of the game.

Congrats to all the award winners and the game winners! :goodjob:

Thanks as always to the staff!! :goodjob::goodjob:

Special kudos to Dhoomstriker for the diplo trifecta! :king:

This must be one of the rare cases where diplo or space end up with medals ...

Funny, my spaceship loss in 2006 for 4023 score is worth 19.3 score points in the globals, while my 1842 diplo win for 73,831 in BOTM 21 is only worth 16.2 score points!

I guess it's all relative ...

This game certainly rewarded those of the Wonder-addiction Club, of which I am a self-confessed member.

Kudos to my fellow medal winners, ZPV and Jovan Kukic! :high5: The Final Scores are so close that any one of you could have taken the top spot. Thanks for not beating me, however, as I am more than happy to log my first gold medal off of a non-Domination and non-Conquest type of win. :egypt:

I congratulate those who slogged it out trying to get their Permanent Ally to take over some cities. Great job to those who managed a Domination Victory!

As per my ramblings at the end of my Final Spoiler message, after I submitted the game, I went back to a mid-game saved game and tried a Domination style of game. I discovered that if you started early enough and declared war on one or two AIs prior to the appearance of Longbows, it was not too difficult to get a neighbouring AI to take over most of said cities. The challenging part seemed to come later, when you tried to make your Permanent Alliance Target take enough land for Domination, without them razing or ignoring nearly defenseless cities... :wallbash: :aargh:

Nice work to those of you who made it to the stars. A special shout-out to Conquistador 63 and ngraner42, who both gave Jovan Kukic some good competition for the fastest Space win.

Thank you, Leif, for the game and for scaling the difficulty level down from the Deity-level after which this game was modelled. Although I did not manage to cement a Permanent Alliance in my game, I found the concept fascinating and would love to explore it more if the staff are willing to enable that option more often in future games.

As always, special thanks to those who had the courage to submit a defeat!!! I salute thee! :salute: Your participation helps to keep the competition going and more importantly, helps to force you to learn and grow as players. Further, submitted losses and any related game reports that you write will empower you to better compare your game with others' games and thus will enable you to excel in future games well beyond the level of those who don't bother to submit their losses and those who don't force themselves to analyse their games via a write-up.

Thanks for the well-wishes, da Vinci. I'm sorry to hear about your failed Cultural attempt, but it was certainly a tough challenge that even I failed at. With Gandhi and Mansa being so close to us (thus having possible conflict of borders with your and their Legendary Cities) and with the Egyptian leaders taken out the running (since we played as Egypt), there weren't too many great options for your Permanent Ally. Louis was probably the best choice, in hindsight, since he was the only other on-continent AI that seems to excel at Cultural games, but at least in my game, he was stuck with two cities for the longest of time and his second city had too much water and desert to be of much use culturally.

Thank you for this interesting setup. And congratulations to those who stood out from the mass of 19xx space wins

It seems the three locations most people chose to settle (In place, on corn, on horse) were more or less equal in the long run.

I'd like to see a statistic on who, if any, was chosen as PA partner. I suspect most chose MM because it seemed easiest.

By the way, is WOTM26 coming? :hmm:

Congrats to all the award winners and the game winners! :goodjob:

Yes, OCC supresses the really fast finishes that normally shift the curves (both speed and score).

7th!!! My best performance ever!!!
Not many submissions though but still!! proud of myself!!!
This confirms i am rubbish at micro-gestion and war and decent at one city challenge...
Could have done a lot better if this wasn't my very first attempt at a PA game...
Thx for the great game!

2nd best Domination win - woot:dance:
But 15th overall, barely in top half.
In top half :band:
Fun game, especially beginning where it goes fast and all you do is build wonders. I'm still trying to get my wonder spamming friends to try it.

Congrats Dhoomstriker. Well played! Freekin' girlie builder

Thanks LC, although I expect my date could be improved upon by a couple hundred years without too much difficulty.
