Patch G DL

How does downgrading work? Just install the patch or a full reinstall of FfH?

Thanks, works great. For those who asked just running the patch is OK. I got a few little errors but nothing that interferes with game play.

The 'Turn On Avoid Growth' feature is missing though. And, as the above poster says, you get a host of errors, but seems to work fine. Me and my friend played patch g for a bit before stopping (I really can't play without the avoid growth feature :p)

Slavery is the best Avoid Growth feature

I do agree with you though, that thing is dead useful in situations were Slavery is not an aplicable civic. Still, it should be possible to download base .41 and then install patch g, which should remove the errors...

When do you not want growth? And how does that work, anyway? Sacrificial murder of infants?

You don't want growth when more population will just produce unhappy citizens, or when it will immediately begin starving. You might also not want more population when you know that a city is in danger of falling to enemy attack soon, or when Blight is imminent.

When the feature works, it works by assigning tasks to the city's citizens such that they do not produce extra food (and thus the city doesn't grow). For example, lower-food tiles are worked, and specialists are assigned to use up any excess.

and if for some reason, all of the tiles produce a certain number of food, so that either you will be starving or growing, the "avoid growth" will actually alternate between starving and growing every few turns to make sure the city does not starve OR grow.
its great

Additionally, if the city reaches the food cap(where the city would grow the next turn) and the city is still producing food, then the city just plain won't grow. The food bar will be full, and food is being produced, but it remains at that population. This is useful for cities with lots of high-food tiles, since those same tiles might also be high-production or high-commerce.
