At least one of these is pretty graphic so I'm putting them spoilers.

Anyway, some interesting photos of the American Civil War I have on my hard drive.

I can't remember who these guys are (I think they're VMI Confederate officers at the beginning of the war but I may be wrong.)

I can't remember the exact story behind this photo but I do remember that the Union officer is looking at the grave of another Union soldier with a dead Confederate lying in the foreground.

This is a photograph I took of a photograph at the Cerro Buffa museum in Zacatecas. One of Pancho Villa's men with a punt gun. There was no caption and I can't read the cursive writing on the photo.

What practical use they would have had for such a ludicrously oversized weapon is anyone's guess. Maybe it was just loot that Villa's men found in the city after the battle.

I assume this is entirely set up, or at least heavily edited, for propaganda purposes, but an amazing picture.

The protesters and soldiers during the July Days. This is one of the most epic scenes of the July Days, the soldiers and protesters, under fire from machine guns, instinctively dropping down on Nevsky Prospect.

Re-enactment of the storming of the Winter Palace. The real "storming" was quite non-violent, and happened at night, and there were no cameras present.

Your mom wears a pickelhaube. :p

Seriously, good find LightSpectra. I'd seen that image of Ludendorff before but never knew it was part of a wider view of the other putschers.

Jesus, he face got droopy after the war.

Why weren't they executed?

I didn't even knew that Ludendorff had been directly involved in that one.

I saw this photo in a book before, that said that it was an unknown unit. However, that guy in the middle looks just like a guy I once knew from Tennessee.
