How come it's not possible to enter a Strategic Alliance with other civs? I'm almost in the future era now, and that should have been possible with Fascism... Even though I think this option should be available much sooner, this option does not present itself with anyone I talk with in diplo-screen. Not even my vassals...

I also have problems with deals being cancelled every turn, kind of automatically... I have to renegotiate deals as often as I care to -this is always with resources I have plenty of from before, because many resources give bonuses that stack when you have corporations in your cities... And these deals are only available from my vassals... (why is that really?)

Yeah, like you already said, problems with AIs cancelling deals after 1 turn or so seem to be common. As I never use Strategic Alliances I don't know about that.

I don't think it's RoMs fault but rather the new "better AI". I initially thought: wow, the AI knows this deal is better for me than for it, cause it sees I begin building a lot of infastructure after I got lets say ivory (bazaars!) and so it cancelled asp. That would be better AI indeed, wouldn't it?

On the other hand I had a game where lots of AI DOWed on me and I managed some to make peace with me only to see them DOW me again after 1 turn. Now, thats broken!!!111eleven

Maybe its a good thing (though 1 turn is kind of too quick). I would like to see the diplomacy go through faster rotations of peace/war. Never understood how an AI could stay continuously at peace with me (or war) of several thousand years while we're both changing civics etc. I would like to see +1/-1 relationshop changes all the time, so that peace doesn't last that long, and war doesn't last that long - afterall, 50 turns could equal 500-100 years! I think Call to Power had 1 turn wars/ 1 turn peace's? In reality, every 5-50 years a country will have a new leader (death/usurped/out voted, etc) and these new leaders greatly affect the relationships with other nations. Maybe have more random events like "death of your king results in -1 relationship with country x"

And this is exactly why I'm waiting for Afforess to finish up his great modmod :D His excellent work includes Realistic Diplomacy mod.

I think that some AIs are worst than others in backstabbing. One of the real dumb a.....s is Willem Oranje, who can attack you while you have +3 relationship ratio.

If an AI Civ cancels the deals too often then I'm refusing to talk to them afterwards. There is a great option introduced by ZAP: STOP BOTHERING US  I'm using it much too often in the game.

This was actually introduced by the Revdcm team.

Hoe does the 'Stop bothering us' work? They just won't contact you anymore or for a period of time?

For as long as the session lasts. When you reload a save you have to tell them again to stop bothering you.

Plus, it also works as automatic rejecting of AI's offers. That will have consequences if you are not careful (or maybe not so careless ).

Yeah, you should just bully the little ones...:satan::old:[pimp]

Please, can we stay on topic here? It's not that I disagree, but I think that not being able to enter Strategic Alliances is a real problem. Is it the mod that's causing this, or what?

All I know is that I haven't changed anything that should affect alliances (other than moving them to trigger from different techs). I don't know if any of the SDK mods have changed how alliances are handled.

I'm fairly sure this is a bug. I reported it to the RevDCM team, but they are a bit swamped at the moment.

Thanks guys. I will await patiently (and potentially infinitely) for a bug-fix :D

You do have to have the option checked to enter permanent alliances, and it's NOT checked by default.
