I am currently working on getting ALOT of religions into the game, all modular. (That way you can pick and choose which ever one your going to play at that time).

Right now it is BETA. Cause i need help. (I just need help with the attachments i put here.) I just have too many things going on.

Here is what i have so far:

Shinto religion and three of its other religions that go with Shinto (Amaterasu, Susanoo, and Tsukiyomi).

I have made a Shinto missionary already and Shaman's for each of these religions, holy cities, and some shrines.

I currently have them ALL being founded with Literature. But that then does not give you a real holy city, so i have to move each to a separate area.

Below is what they look like now, but i need to change things around thats why i am saying BETA.

I also need to get temples/cathedrals/monasteries for all and anything else that needs changing with YOUR help and/or suggestions. So all are Welcome.:p

Tell me what you think, thx. And any religion you want done fast(as long as it has been made already that is).:mischief:

Just put the Custom Religion folder in the Modules area along side of the other Custom folders, ie: Custom Buildings/Custom Civilizations etc.

DO NOT put this into the game unless your going to help, as i said, its just a work in progress, thx.

EDIT: Changed the attachment with newer info. See below. (post # 3)

this should be in the modmod forum.

I am going to convert my GEM scenario to RoM and therefore it would be great if you could make a few Pagan Religions (One for Germans, One for Vikings, One for Africans, One for Mongolians, One for Polynesians) i need these so A formal religion doesnt automatically spread to the pagan cities. I could also do with a Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox as two christian religions.

Yeah i thought i had put it there, but Apparently not, sorry guys.

Yeppers already on my list.;)

Attached also i just made a shrine for Shinto also, and changed the three other religions that go with Shinto to different locations after Shinto is founded.

@strategyonly I to have a Shinto mod but based on AAranda's religion mod.

@cheesemijit AAranda has a Mongol and Viking style religion in his mod pack. Plus a plant, spirit and animal based pagan religions.

I was going to split AAranda's into individual religions so you could set up the number you need to fit the map size you were playing.

I never even seen it before, but will take a look at it, of course mine is set for 2.8.

Has anyone come across a Pastafarian religion mod? It would be fun if it came with the Internet technology as a late religion, with its own special inquisitor type units... :bounce:

Here is a list of what is available:

Aboriginal
Andean
Asatru (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=340917)
Dancing Hoskuld

Buddhist
Cathay
Celtic
Chinese
Christian
Congo
Druid (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=340917)
Dancing Hoskuld

Egyptian
Hellenism
Hindu
Iranian
Jewish
Muslim
Native
Niger
Nordic
Shinto (started working on, got most of it done)
Siberian
Slavic
Vedic.

Now EACH one of these has three to five different kinds of sub-religions in EACH.

Example Christian sub-religions: Catholic, Coptic, Nestorian, Orthodox and Protestant.

Pls provide thx.

Thx, i am looking at it now. But i am making these SEPARATE, that way each can be used when you want it, rather than all in the game at one time.

does it work with 2.8 though?, and i do like the Modular approach from strategyonly

It will, that is what i am basing it off of and all will be modular, except for the Audio files that i will put up at a later time.

Sorry never heard of it, but the inquisitors of these will have their OWN inquisitor: Buddhist, Chinese, Christian, Hindu, Iranian, Jewish and Muslim. (ie Muslim: Ismaili, Kharjite, Mutazili, Shia and Sunni)

There will be sounds for each primary religion also. Or what i can find.

This will take AWHILE, as i am currently working on more than 60 - 100 projects (if you look at My Productions in my sig you can see why).
I have not gotten to alot of them cause of RoM and NWA, takes along time to do, but now that 2.8 is out and most of the kinks are out, i can settle down more.

What would the difference be? also would the Catholics have the Apostolic Palace as It's holy shrine? Missionaries could be Jesuits

more to come

St. Peter's Basilica, it is the home of the Aoistolic Palace but in the game the Palace is meant for everyone whereas St. Peter's Basilica really is a symbol of Catholicism and the Home of its leader. You may want to swap the graphics over but if you can make it so the Basilica is a Shrine and also works as the Palace that would be awesome.

I find it funny that all of these different religions across this entire website there isn't a single Mormon religion mod.

Now EACH one of these has three to five different kinds of sub-religions in EACH.

Example Christian sub-religions: Catholic, Coptic, Nestorian, Orthodox and Protestant.

Could you also make non-denominational sub-religions for each too?
i.e. Buddhism's non-denominational sub-religion is actually just the philosophy while Christianity's non-denominational sub-religion doesn't have any specific rules a normal sub-religion i.e. Catholisism would have.
EDIT: Plus the non-denominational option could give more religious leniency within a religion for it's citizens.

I thought Rapture mod by Johnny Smith have a million religions in it? :)

OK i got the Shinto stuff ready (except the sounds etc) but i am having a problem with the sub-religions.

I need to figure out a way that these sub-religions canNOT be founded unless you have Shinto.

Anybody have any ideas on how to do that??

Doesn't anyone want to help do these projects??:(

python check, have it require that only founds on a true result with shinto ingame being true

I would but then that would not be a modular way, and i am trying to keep all this as much modular as possible.:p

You could write the python to support the modular nature of the XML but it would mean that you would have to examine the XML available and base your code on that. Not simple and probably not satisfacturaly possible in the civ programming environment.

What I would like is proto-religions morphing into full blown religions eg Koshinto becoming Shinto. With koshinto dieing out over time. However I can't articulate what I want fully yet.

I have had a thought on the sub religions - would it be possible to use the event system. The logic would be something like
. when a(ny) player gets the tech for a sub-religion and sub-religion not founded
. if they have the main religion in any of their cities
. one of those cities founds the sub-religion

@ STRATEGYONLY

How did you get all your religions to fit in your religion advisor screen and how did you get that slider. also how do you deal with them going offscreen in the cityveiwer.

Here's how mine look , all jumbled up (still working on gamefont targa so my egyptian religion will show up as stanard ethonol).
