Classical Age Units (1200 BC - 1 BC)
Imperial Age Units (1 AD - 500 AD)

This thread contains Classical Age Units for civilizations in the ancient Mediterranean zone, following the civilizations breakdown from TAM mod.
Reading this POST you'll understand the purpose of this collection, and you'll also find additional in-game screenshots.

Classical era (also the Classical antiquity or classical period) is a broad term for a long period of cultural history centered on the Mediterranean Sea, comprising the interlocking civilizations of Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, collectively known as the Greco-Roman world. It is the period in which Greek and Roman literature (such as Aeschylus, Ovid, Homer and others) flourished. It is conventionally taken to begin with the earliest-recorded Greek poetry of Homer (8th–7th century BC), and continues through the rise of Christianity and the decline of the Roman Empire (5th century AD).

I've subdivided the single classical era into two different ages, following the ages breakdown from TAM mod: the "classical age", from the beginning of iron age (1200 BC) to the Imperial Rome (1 BC), and the "imperial age", starting from Christianity age to the decline of the Roman Empire and beyond (550 AD). Look at this CIVILIZATION CHART for more detailed infos about involved civs.

I've made, collected and assembled these units using nifscope and blender tools, with models and textures released by firaxis and other forum modders. Thus credits go to EVERYONE who made ancient units before me.

Nice work as always.

I will say that I think you should add a gloss effect to the Babylonian helmets, but that is a very minor nitpick. :goodjob:

That depends on whether they are intended to be bronze helmets or cloth caps (which would be more historically accurate)

Looking forward to seeing the upcoming units as well.

I've just uploaded a horse archers set.

This set reproduces a early version of horsearcher, covering the timeline between bronze and classical ages. Archers don't use the saddle and are equipped with wooden bow and arrows. There are 6 different kind of archers upon 12 different painted horses, using light and dark brown weapons. I have chosen the egyptian model because it has proper animations for the quiver on the back, both for close and distant combat.

Happy new year !!!
:)

These units are brilliant... There are just so many I may really have to do unique units for every civilization now. :D

I've just released a heavy spearmen package

This set reproduces armored spearmen from the Classical Age. I used a mix of meshes, shields, spears and anims in order to varying the units. As result, there are 12 different kind of spearmen using 3 different kind of animations (Greek phalanx, Mayan holkan and CharleMagne heavy spearman).

Man, I just looked at all of these and they're pretty amazing. I can't wait until you finish all of this stuff and get TAM updated. If you have any requests for LHs for that mod let me know and I can help you out. :goodjob:

I've just released a swordsmen package

This set contains swordsmen from Classical Age. The Dacians are falxmen. I used a mix of meshes, shields, swords and anims in order to varying the units. As result, there are 12 different kind of swordsmen using 6 different kind of animations (vanilla swordsman, hypaspist, praetorian, both heavy and light CharleMagne swordsman and sumerian vulture).

Look at the animation guideline included in the package in order to assign the proper animation to each unit.

I like your swordsman a lot. specially the sword of the msw_egypt.:goodjob: I just would give some of your swordsman the kopis-sword from the Doric Swordsman. Maybe i can try by myself, but....i know i am not talented.

I gave the xiphos sword to greeks instead of the kopis, simply because I would reserve the kopis for my next greek cavalry units.
However, switching a sword is quite easy to do.

Cannot await your cav, the default Companion cavalry is a little bit consumed. However it seems i had to try the Replacement of the swords by my self:( Is nifscope the right tool?
