I've been playing ROM with Afforess modmods for a very long time but with 1.52 all unique units have reverted back to the original Civ4:(

i have tried a clean install of ROM but it didn't help. Any suggestions?

it's to bad my first post has to be a request for help :p

Could you be a bit more specific? It's kind of hard to help someone when you don't have all the details. You should probably post what version of RoM you are using, what part of Afforess's modmod features installed and any other modmod installs (if applicable). You should also state what specifically is the issue because saying the UU's have been 'reverted' is a bit vague.

I am using ROM 2.82 and i am using all Afforess features with the exeption of sea monsters and deep red interface. the problem is the models of my units are now default civ 4. so i load up a game using the English tribe and build a scout. instead of the english model i get the original civ4 native model. it is purely an aesthetic problem and does not effect gameplay so far as i can tell. Beta 2 of Afforess recent modmods works fine but the later releases have this issue.

I want to know if this is a real problem or if it was done intentionaly to increase speed and if it is a problem, how to fix it. Sorry for the broken sentances but i'm in class and need to do this quickly befor the prof notices anything. :p

If you are referring to the issue of unit graphics, you may want to check your modules folder for the custom artstyles to see if they aren't in the unloaded modules folder and vise versa. If you do move any files, I can guarantee they will break your saves.

looking in the unloaded modules folder was the first thing i did and unfortunatly it did not contain any files under custom artstyles. this is why i am having so much trouble, everything appears to be where it should be but it doesn't work right. i've tried a clean instalation of ROM and Afforess modmods multiple times but to no avail and i dout a clean instal of BTS would do much good seeing as the UU appear when Afforess is uninstaled. however i'm about ready to try anything.

Well, if it's not too much trouble could you post screenshots of the suspect issue? Perhaps its not a bug or issue but standard issue perhaps.

notice the scout

i've narrowed the problem down to buildings inc. could the load order be effecting this?

Ah ha, so it is not UUs but cultural unit graphics. Totally different things, although they may appear the same at first glance ;). This will help those in the know figure out what is going on. Unfortunately that is not me :(

Okay, I think I figured it out.
I had this problem too, that the custom artstyle units were not working. I did some tinkering and it turns out that AND overwrites the original rom file 'MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.xml'. There's probably a much easier solution but I have it working now.
1. Replace the MLF_Civ4ModularLoadingControls.xml (located in Assets/modules) with the original file from ROM 2.8 (I'm a noob and can't upload, so just cut and paste from the spoiler into your MLF_Civ4ModularLoadingControls.xml file...

3. (Don't know if it's necessary) but run the woc_installer.exe in the same directory and click finish. Should fix your issue.

IT WORKED!!! Thanks you Molnutz, replacing the file seems to have fixed everything.
and thank you TechXLtd and Dancing Hoskuld for your help :D

Be very careful, dudes :).

That MLF is a crucial one and better ot be left alone if you had Afforess' modmods, they won't work. Now te real fix is go into the file itself with notepad and add the entry for Custom Artstyles and putting it in the list of Modules in that file. Read the tutorial in the modmods forum, it is a sticky.

Afforess, you just need to add that one in the next universal MLF file, if what they say is true. Embarrassing, I know but it happens ot all of us :).

Tested the MLF file, the one Afforess installed.

It have Custom ArtStyles in there.

So I suspect your solution of replacing the MLF file needs more expanding/explaining because it don't make sense.

And Afforess, forget the above post. Misfired.

bah! your right it doesn't work :(
it just looked as if it had fixed the problem. oh well i guess i just wont use buildings inc until the next release :p

Hmm. I'm certainly no expert, so I'm glad I backed EVERYTHING up.

It still works fine on my end. Custom Artstyles is in both Afforess' MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.xml and ROM2.8, but for some reason it's not working/recognizing it. Again, no idea why.

But by using the 'MLF_CIV4ModularLoadingControls.xml' file from ROM2.8, then editing the file to include mods from Afforness' file, essentially mergin the two, I've got all the extras from Afforness AND the customartsyles working properly.

Again, I'm sure there's an easier way. But so far, I'm 1300AD w/o any conflicts (yet).

But overall, I would just say live without the customartsyles until an official fix b/c I have no idea if the xml changes are affecting something else

Is there a particular order for this? Should I move the Custom Artstyles entry to the top of the list?

Seems to be working. Will have to see what happens Friday. (When I'll have a chance to play the game.)

Hello!

I want to start playing civ4 again but its been a while I fired it up... this time I tried:

(in install order)

ROM (Full not mega) 2.8 + 2.81 patch + 1.53 AND + 1.55 Patch then I installed ROME 3.05

the Problem is I have no ethnic flavour units (only those colonials and trench inf from ROME).

So my NOOB question here is: Are custom flavour units (like rifleman, workers, etc.) included in the ROM 2.8 main install at all? I really can´t play this game with those vanilla units...

Is there a solution?

could something be wrong with my main install? (my mods folder in bts is not write protected)

Are flavour units in mega 2.8? (I can´t see an interface when I start it with the install order; see above)

Is it possible to make unit skin packs like Diversica 8.0 compatible with this mod?

sorry for so many stupid questions, I was a bit in modding civ4 2 years ago but forgot everything...

thx a lot and kind regards!
