Welcome to my third hosted SG!

The second one can be found here. It is still ongoing but I felt like starting a new one... and I wanted to play Peter :D

I've pre-selected everything so on to the game, let the stacks come!

Game Settings:
Team_Battleground, 4 corners
Emperor Difficulty
Normal Speed
Aggressive AI
Peter of Russia
Always War
2v2+2+2
Events ON
Huts ON

The AI factions:
The aggressive leaders: Shaka and Montezuma
The organized leaders: Julius Caesar and Napoleon
The Philosophical leaders: Suleiman and Alexander

Our valiant helper:
Churchill

Roster
1. kossin
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.

This time around, I'll give priority to players NOT currently playing KoS2 although they will be added to the roster should they want in and not enough players want to try this game.
Everyone is welcome!

We'll give players 48 hours to pick up the save. Another 48 to play it although extra time can be granted if requested. These times aren't extra-strict as some discussion may be required before going on forward. Your input is much coveted!

Rules:
1. We must build the Great Wall to keep those uneducated warmongers out!

As for turnset lengths, I'm thinking 20 for the first few sets and then either 15 or 10, although the player may decide to play a few turns more (to complete a tech, etc.) or less (if input is needed, etc.).

The start is to be generated once settings are agreed upon.

Remember, we're here for fun! Fun starts with participation. The more input we get, the more fun!

I'll play Kossin if not enough players sign up. But i'm sure they will. Either way I'll be playing or lurking. Should be a fun game.

I'd like to join if you don't mind having me again kossin. I am not emperor level really, but I am learning from these games and improving my play. And with the amount of discussion anticipated I imagine I should be ok. :)

Yea... GW rule isn't really a rule in itself... mostly to eliminate some discussion ;)

mlinneak, count yourself in.
mjg5591, you're in reserve. i don't want to wait a week to start this so you might have a good chance to get in!

I don't remember seeing this game posted in the registration thread. You might pick up more people there as well. We're getting to a pretty busy time though, too, so there may not be as many people active in the forums right now.

I'd like to give this one a go. I used to be pretty comfortable on emperor though I've got pretty rusty (as can be seen in EC3).

Sounds good. The natural choke point on this kinda of map makes it a bit easier than otherwise as long as we don't crash the economy.

Are there still slots open? I would like to join this one if you will have me.

Yes!
Here's the roster so far:

1. kossin
2. mlinneak
3. pigswill
4. shurdus
5. mjg5591
6.
7.

I'm lifting the priority on KoS2 members since I'm getting impatient to try this one :D

Do you think this SG would be finished before the end of January? If so I could join up too, otherwise I'll have to stay a lurker as things are going to go wahooy shaped for me in February.

Still looking for 1 more player but I'd say let's start anyway. We should be able to find one by the time we get to the 7th round.

As for myself, I'm away for the next 3 days so let's start some discussion in the meantime :)

Well I have a problem seeing us not settling the fresh water, so I say more the scout 1NE to see what llies in the fog. If there is something nice waiting for us we may consider moving 1SE, but I think judging by the number of visible resources that we almost may as well settle in place.

Given its AW it may be worth considering 1E on the grassland hill.

The extra defense would be nice, but that would cost us two grassland hills to work. I am unsure if this is worth it since we would probably be doing something wrong should the enemies hammer on our capitol gates.

I wouldn't mind a shot at this. I haven't posted much here, but I've been a lurker since this summer when I started playing, and I'm familiar with the format. I usually play at immortal or deity, but I rarely play all the way on to the modern and later eras. I tend to lose interest at that point, so I was thinking this would keep me going.

Merry Christmas!

Edit: Didn't realise this was a team game, I'm not at all familiar with that.

Currently my vote would be to settle in place as well, though moving the scout may be beneficial and entice us to change our minds.
As far as techs, I am leaning towards agri -> archery -> masonry -> bronze
or agri -> masonry -> bronze -> a. husbandry
and the only reason I would aim towards masonry so early would be to secure us the Great Wall.

I'm back online!

Are you familiar with Team_Battleground four corners? 4 teams in 4 corners with 4 paths meeting in the center of the map... great to build bottlenecks so settling the hill right now isn't a huge priority.

@Ragrrr
Welcome in!
Teams are a bit more complicated to handle but if you direct the AI's research, they can be very good pawns for you ;)

I'd go SE and then NE (or something like that after the first move) with the scout since we can easily tell the rest is just forests.
From the looks of it, there are fp's to the SE (settle on the stone is a possibility but I don't like it too much)

Combined with Churchill's research, it should be fast enough in the early game to get out the important techs.

Ag>AH first.
Then we can decide Archery/BW/Masonry.

The AIs won't send any troops for a good while (50+ turns) so we only have to worry about scouts and barbs for now.

We can probably re-discuss research after Ag/AH are in.
