Hi All. I recently installed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Civ BtS fully patched runs just fine, however, it won't save my settings in a custom game. In XP, whenever I started a new custom game, it always remembered my preferences from the last one. Difficulty, map size, victory conditions, etc. With Windows 7, no such luck.

Sometimes it will remember partial details, like the previous difficulty and map type, but nothing else. I can't seem to nail it down. I am running the game as an admin and also tried XPSP3 compatibility mode to no avail. Any thoughts?

The same thing happens to me as well. I can't figure it out. The other weird thing it does it sometimes when I load up Civ it tells me my system is below recommended settings and lowers all my graphics settings. Does yours do this as well?

it tries to save the settings in my games\beyond the sword\civilizationIV.ini - make sure that this folder is not write protected.
@zarakand: if you are sure your machine does exceed the min specs you can turn this warning off in the civilizationIV.ini

I had a similar problem. Try to use only english (latin) path to the directory of saves and options.

If you go into your folder that has the game in it you will notice there are some shortcuts. Well these shortcuts point to nothing thanks to windows 7. So you have to point them in the right direction. Find where windows 7 put your folders. Mine were here C:\Users\user name\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword. Now go to your game folder right click on one of the shorcuts, goto properties, then in the 'Target' box type in where the shortcut is supposed to go, example for the .ini file ("C:\Users\user name\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\CivilizationIV.ini"). Do it for all the links and your game will be back to normal. I only tried this with BtS but I'm sure it will work for all versions.
