Checking CIVII version?

I'm trying to install CivII and I want to provide my version for help. Unfortunately, I have no idea what version it is. I'll list everything it says:

Ow.. lotsa unneeded stuff, but oh well.
I'dve taken a pic but I don't have a digital camera on me atm.
I believe this is the first version, no idea though.

Not sure, but you probably have the basic version, 2.42. I think the next version (MGE) came out in 1999. There may be other 1996 versions (Before 2.42? European? etc?) to confuse matters, but 2.42 seems the most likely.

If you can get it running, then click on Game / Game Options, and it will tell you your version.

Based on that date and the error message produced by your installation attempt (16-bit installer), I'll guess vanilla Civ2 (2.42) as well.

Welp, time to suck against the AI.

Actually, if it's vanilla Civ2, it'll probably be less than 2.42. If so, you'll need to patch it up to version 2.42: http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=58.

No .... ! I knew you had install problems, but thought you might be still able to run it on some other computer. Glad you are OK now.

I was joking...

And I got more errors... D: "Cannot find SHELL.DLL" or something, and other errors.
