i have decided not to even LOOK AT all the other games starting up, cause i dont wanna join another one.

i cant believe there are enough players for the 8 or so games currently in progress.
it seems as if whenever this forum has a game that is going well, a bunch of others start up and then there aint enough players time for all of em and they start dying like flies.

of course it could just be that i'm bitter cause i aint done my own game yet. ;)

As I see it there are the standard vs alternative NESes, and the UKNES, TROQNES, SNES, JNES, and R2NES are already enough, without more people starting their own games.

Unless someone's continuing a series, like Skilord, UK, Toasty, Jason, or I, for which there are already standard audiences, perhaps they should first post a summary to see if people will be interested in joining up. Not to stop new people from joining up on the mod team [I'm interested to see what a RODNES might look like!] but it does seem like big NESes die fast.

If you're new to the mod team start SMALL, like five players, because you always get better feedback from a small team. Every big NES so far - the world UKNESes, the SUPERNES, most of the global NESes have fallen apart in days because it's just too many people.

Exactly why my RTORNES3 is a map of Europe and Africa. It's really useless to design an NES suitable for 20 or so people, because the players will drop like flies and you'll be bored with it as well.

Troq, you should make that into a seperate post and request it to be stickied ;).

thats not really true...look at RTOR2 nes...ok so it doesnt seem to be the best nes in terms of administration, but i myself enjoy playin it...its fun to be part of the story...:)
and its still goin strong after 900 posts?

might as well bring this one back up too. ;)

lets see, me personaly i'm in 3 games right now and all 3 are having problems getting all the orders in.

i havent counted the games that have started and died in the last 2 weeks, but it seems like its about a dozen.
here is a list of the games (in order they are on the forum right now) and their statuses as i can tell.
going - recently updated, doing deplomacy
waiting - update a long time ago, mod waiting for more orders
dead - self explanatory: dead infant if it never got going
immortal - RTOR2 lol

StJNES - going
RTRnes2 - immortal
ZNES - waiting
HNES3 - waiting
StNANES - new
JNESX - waiting
stshNES (beach) - starting
UKNES8 - waiting
ENES 2 - dead ifnfant
RTOR5 - going
30YWnes - dead infant
shNES1.2 - dead
JNESIX - dead
EPICnes - dead
NES2 - dead infant
WNES - Dead infant

as you can see its not a very inspiring list. i might have gotten some of those wrong as i dont/didnt play in most of them.

I don't think you can say RTOR5 is dead, we had an update just 2 days ago, probably lmsw and erez simply could not update yerstuday, but it surely is not dead yet, i think you should say it is in "waiting"

oh, sorry.
i changed it to going, since as i understand it the story ones usualy take longer per turn anyway.
and still the list is grim. ;)

*Is offended* You said my NES was dead? *cries*

I don't see how having alot of games is a bad thing, as Skilord says it only shows how popular this forum has become. There's enough space in this place for everyone :D

there arent that many people that play games. list them, try it you wont get more then 15

Roddy by your list there are only 7 games... not that many, and think that some are only for 5-7 plyers, and have reserved rooms... I'ts becoming much less.....

Roddy, I personally do not mind the amount of games going - it brings variety to the forum. There are different Story nes's (rtor2 and 5 types, and StJNES types) that only bring a better selection. Sure, some don't pick up, but its not bad at all, it shows how many people are interested in those rules, so MODS can look into it when they make a new one.

You should rather nudge the beginner mods to make more games, its healthy for the forum.

I'm gona bring this thread back to life. There are now nine NESes going on. To me that is a lot of NESes. I'm gona sit it out and see which one dies first :D

Colonization NES: Barely Alive but at a good old age.
Greek NES (whatever it's called): Going
World at War NES: My First NES. Bad handwriting. :o Died as an infant

Err, I wonder How I can keep my NES Alive and kicking at a ripe old age.

CivGeneral, ask EQandCivFanatic (he is the mod of RTOR2), I think you must let thing happend like new nations, rebbelions, wars, new stuff (traits, economy rules etc).

Ok.. let's try to do a list similar to the one Roddy made long time ago

StJNES2: Going
RTOR5: Waiting (that's because lmsw had to stop modding and me and Heine had to take over)
RTOR2: Immortal
stEREZ nes: Going
StJNES3: Going
PureNES: Going strong
stshNES3: Waiting
stNANES: Waiting
Colonization NES: Waiting
stshNES2: Dead
StJNES: Dead
Bn1nes: Dead infant
TNESI: Dead infant
Warcraft NES: Dead infant

As you may see, most NESes are still going after a long run (RTOR2, RTOR5, StJNES2) and some other are taking off really fast (StJNES3, PureNES, stEREZ nez).

to find some dead neses we need to lock very deep on the page, I think we can manage to have so many running NESes now for two main reasons:

- We have many more players
- Most NESes are now "Story" NES, easier to update and easier to send orders.

Since when?! PureNES is much harder to update than the UKNESs lol, although I admit at the moment more fun.

Well of course PureNES took off really fast.... I decided to random declare war on somebody, and set the world into a frenzy that created ten pages of diplomacy in 2 days.... now that was fun. :)
