Civilization V Trailer - Announcement Trailer

This is looking great. Thanks for posting this. I can not wait for this game to come out!

Listening to the trailer...can anyone tell whose voices are narrating. The first person sounds like James Earl Jones to me...

These are the quotes from the trailer.

"A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance" - Jawaharlal Nerhu.

"To build courage when courage seems to fail, to regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith,to create hope when hope becomes forlorn." - Douglas McArthur.

"I never learned how to tune a harp, or play upon a lute; but I know how to raise a small and obscure city to glory and greatness...whereto all kindreds of the earth will pilgrim." - Themistocles.

"The great questions of the day will not be settled by means of speeches and majority decisions but by iron and blood." - Otto von Bismarck.

"I have witnessed the tremendous energy of the masses. On this foundation it is possible to accomplish any task whatsoever." - Mao Zedong.

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanore Roosvelt.

I wonder if this is any indication of new leaders... Themistocles would be great! i'm tired of Alexander...

The first guy sounded like Cptain Anderson from Mass Effect, don't know what the vioce actor's called though.
What were the quotes ? I only recognized Bismarck's.
Edit: Nevermind. Thanks Kahless and welcome to the forums :goodjob:

I don't know if they indicate leaders, McArthur and Eleanor Roosevelt are clearly out of the question but I really really hope they replaced Gandhi with Nehru.
And another thing: Hornless Vikings !

Constantinople is apparently shown also (The walls are quit distinct). I don't think the stuff shown guarentees any civilization's spot however.

Istanbul, not Constantinople:(. Stupid minarets. It's nothing against Islam I just wish they'd depict the Hagia Sophia the way it was originally constructed.

Haha, no way..."The great questions of the day will not be settled by means of speeches and majority decisions but by iron and blood."

I swear I had it first. I hope if the Vikings are in they call them Scandinavians. :) Still waiting for the video to load...

Good call on the quote. Fall 2010 seems like it is still forever far away...

Scandinavians? In VANILLA CIV V? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...............

That messes with my hopes for a civilization roster so badly..........I want Canute over Ragnar atleast :yeah: Still, great trailer, but I wish we had seen ANYTHING ingame instead of awesome animations which we know won't be in the game.

There's a small trailer at IGN:

Civilization V Announcement Trailer

No in-game footage... but still a worth a look!

Vikings, Egypt and Japan are in, three more sits are taken!

Awesome.

Any idea what the last civ featured was? I was thinking a return of one of the South American ones.
Doh, and by "South American" I was foolishly referring to the Mesoamerican ones as well. I guess I should have made that clear on a forum about Civilization.

Anyways, it reminded me of the Incans in any case.

Awesome trailer :goodjob:

But you're missing half the quote!
