Just an idea, probably been expressed before, creating your own civ without having to do coding, the in game would be simple you can't customize it that much you make a leader pick from the leaderheads of other already existing leaders, choose the traits, and name him/her, choose the civilization that it's based on, the color of the civilization, maybe even unique units and buildings, all of these ofcourse are chosen from a list of the already existing leaderheads, civilizations, colors, traits, symbol, unique units, and buildings, just mixing up aspects of other civilizations, because I'm not very good at all that coding, and I've played with unrestricted leaders but then all the other leaders are unrestricted leaders and it's confusing, just wondering what you all think, I'm not sure if it would be that hard to create, but I'm sure alot of people woud appreciate it

thats what ive been wanting in civ 4, just a way to choose the leader, starting techs, unique building, unique unit etc etc don't need that for online play just makes single player more interesting.

Easy: Why can't we have bald naked leaderheads that are dressed-up in-game to make new visual combinations?

Doable: What I would really like is ageing leaderheads so that they don't always look the same during the course of a game. The wrinkles in their faces could become more defined and the hair could grow (or shrink) gradually.

Well, remember they're not just leaderheads anymore. The new full-animation system sounds like it would be much more complicated to customize, though we'll know more when we actually see it in action.

But yeah, some sort of character generator like you see in modern western RPGs (and The Sims) would be really cool, at least for multiplayer. Call me a narcissist, but I've always wanted to make myself as a leaderhead. Problem is, that sort of system is awfully involved, probably more so than can be justified for the type of game Civ is. In an RPG, character creation is a big deal. In a strategy game, it's kind of a luxury. If Firaxis faces a choice between customizable leaders and more gameplay improvements, I'd take the gameplay improvements any day of the week.

I'm not saying choosing noses, hairstyles, and clothing, that would be nice but I know it's not gonna happen I'm talking about choosing from the already existing leaderheads, choosing from the already existing unique units and buildings, and choosing from the already existing flags, just mixing up different civilization features to create your own, you choose from the traits and you give your own name to the civilization and leader, I think it would be a great feature and it's better than checking unrestricted leders because you get to customize everything else to an extent and it wouldn't be confusing like in the unrestricted leaders when Napoleon in charge of the Egyptians, anything else would probably be too difficult to implement

I second this. As an Australian I have to rely on well-intentioned people to take the initiative and create, and then live with what they make. Often they are not Australian's and don't create a representative 'civilisation'. I don't want to have to rely on those with the technical know-how to do something. I want the ability using an appropriate tool to make my own using something like a wizard.

It would be terrific if they were to put a built in character molder/generator, the likes of The Sims 3. Unjustifiable in the sense of the resources that would be involved to code that, but nonetheless if they could do that they could then simply take your leader and attach pre made animations to the skeleton.

Certainly this doesn't allow complete artistic freedom for completely new animations and settings in the diplo screen, but it would provide some good entertainment and customization.

I see nothing wrong with it. I once read a topic once that discarding technologies after you research one could make the game more competitive as you play. Then to save space they could simply modify AI's against the computer. What are AI's if they ask just tell them 'artificial intelligence.' I'm curious about recorded games or even if they got this far yet. Anyways, just some ideas.

With the game I'm working on I have programmed it so that you can load in any image file to act as an in-game character--- a character being advisor, leader, assassin, spies, diplomat, military commander or mayor.

That way you can conquer/befriend/ally/use your family and friends to your hearts' content.

My rolls-royce concept (which will require artist contributions) was always to have the "standard" characters as near-nude, and then you can add other images (layers) over the top, so you can dress them as you please - customised uniforms anyone :D
