Recently (when I became RFC addict... again :( ) I thought a bit about UHVs. I love them but every game of mine follows the same way. And after completing UHV there is nothing great enough to make me feel that I'm playing RFC. So... I thought about lesser "victory conditions". It would be a few (or more) quests for every civilization that reflects its ambition or never followed possibility. Of course for doing UHQs there should be some kind of "prizes". For example (just a general idea- don't blame me for a lack of balance, etc.): as Mongolia conquer Japan by 1450- prize: get +10 stability, 200 gold and courthouse in capital. Or: conquer or make a vassal of Russia by 1450- prize: get 4 keshiks in Moscow and +10 stability. Or: never declare war before 1500- prize: 500 gold, great merchant, golden age and university in capital. This way UHV conditions could be changed for harder ones and easier (like conquering cities by Mongolia or founding Buddhism and Hinduism by India) can be changed into UHQ with prizes enabling grabbing UHV conditions.
What do you think about idea? Generally speaking it won't be implemented unless anyone with modding skills will do it because my skills are really low :( However, feel free to discuss.

That actually sounds like a good idea. Something for RFC Civ V, maybe?

Do anyone know how to add units, stability points, free tech or a golden era by Python? Posting code would be welcome. As well as posting ideas for UHQ. Some of mine:

France:
switch civic to representation in 1750-1800- get 3 cannons and 8 rifleman all lvl 5

England:
control 25% of world territory by 1950- -50% maintenance

Wouldn't the -50% maintances, when combined with courthouses, mean free cities?:crazyeye: Or do you mean -50% maintance for something else (like units or overall costs)?

Awesome idea.

Spoiler :
China:
- Be the first to found a city in America; receive one Settler and a Great Merchant
- Conquer Japan by A.D. 1300; receive three Cho-Ko-Nu and three Pikemen
- Never lose a city to Mongolia before A.D. 1600; receive two Cannons and a Great General
- Be first in land area in A.D. 1900; receive 1000 gold and -25% unit maintenance

Babylon:
- Conquer Egypt by A.D. 200; receive three spearmen and three archers
- Control six cities in A.D. 660; receive a Great General and -25% city maintenance
- Never lose a city by A.D. 1100; receive 1500 gold and +8 permanent culture per turn in capital city (will change with palace relocation)

If the human is playing the UHV, then the game is almost done by that point. 5 Panzers hardly helps if you already have Modern Armour. You waste a turn upgrading them for free.

The hardest part would be deciding how to fix the problem: What do you do if you cannot figure out a reasonable amount of time for someone to accomplish this so that you do not get future units (ones you do not have the technologies for) or obsolete ones.

Wouldn't the -50% maintances, when combined with courthouses, mean free cities?

Indeed. If it's possible it should be something like -50% maintenance for number and distance (if it makes courthouse lower maintenance to 25% not to 0). If it's unbalanced maybe something like maintenance reduction for distance OR number of cities?

"BY" means you can get the reward before 1950 :)

The hardest part would be deciding how to fix the problem:

Hardest part, at least for me, is implementing ideas into the game. Controversial quests can be threw away anyway.

I would look into BtS's python files to see how the quest events (build 7 X until Y etc.) are coded and add my own in the same manner. The basic framework is already there.

Spain would have to conquer Japan, succes not very likely.

France: 1st one is way too easy.

Russia:
be 1st in territory in 1900AD- get a free technology
be 1st to discover Communism- get 10 infantry
be 1st in score in 1950AD- get 3 ICBM
conquer America by 2000AD- get 10000 gold

10 infantry even if you don't have assembly line?
3 ICBM even if you don't have rocketry/fission and/or Manhattan Project?

conquer America as Russia??? WTH!

On top of that, what could you do with 10000 gold in 2000 AD?

Spain can get Japan to collapse, or pillage improvements.

10 Infantry without Assembly Line
10 Infantry won't do much damage by themselves.

3 ICBM's without Rocketry/Fission/or the Manhattan Project
Manhattan Project will already likely be built.

America conquered by Russia??? WTH
Don't forget about the Cold War.:D

On top of that, what could you do with 10000 gold in 2000 AD?

Buy a couple of Modern Armours.

I've made the experience, no matter how great your ideas are, getting someone else to make things you'd like to have is difficult when it comes to modding. That's actually why I started my own modmod project. It's not that difficult, and there are many people here that can help you (as they helped me, thanks guys ;)). But I fear you will have to do the actual work yourself.

Do anyone know how to add units, stability points, free tech or a golden era by Python? Posting code would be welcome.

As far as I know in RFC there is only adding a building (Triumphal Arc) in python code. I'm a python noob so I need an examples of code to implement my ideas. Anyway, should I add the code to existing files or create a new one (I think the second one would be more readable but probably it takes time to learn what to put at the beginning of a file)?
