Well, I personally find it almost impossible to win Diplo in Civ 4. You pretty much have to be friendly with over half the world, and because they pull you apart, its almost undoable. If you can help, let me know.

Civ 5 is trying to make the CPU more likely to attempt to win. Why wouldn't they abstain? It makes no sense.

Possible Fix: Force you to vote for one or the other

Possible Fix: Give a "Partial Victory," to those who support the winner. However, it doesn't work because then you vote for whoever is more popular, even if you've hated them all day.

Possible Fix: Make the UN Separate and do what they did in Galciv. Allow some form of "Alliance," with a certain tech, and if everyone is in alliance, you all win. However, more than likely, some AIs will refuse to join, then you have to kill them:D:

A related note, I think if everyone is your vassal I think you should win Conquest. After all, you're :king: anyway.

I think vassals count towards your domination score. So if everyone is your vassal, then 100% of the cities and population are counting towards domination, which makes you the winner.

Actually, only half. I guess maybe you wouldn't win. You probably would.

Yet you choose to comment only on my last sentence. What about the rest?

A diplomatic win is probably the easiest to achieve in Civ4. To do it, you need to use religion to your advantage. Spread a common religion through a bloc of countries to make them friends with each other, and then have the other factions as enemies, and get everyone in your bloc to recognize that through appropriate wars.

I find diplomatic victories easy. As I do not kill anyone who is famous unless they declare war on me, and I usually build the AP/UN, it is too easy. Find everyone who doesn't support you, and befriend them. 10 turns later, VICTORY!

I have to admit, i´ve never won diplo victory either. Mostly because i either win or lose by conquest before i get that far. But if i get to the UN, then i begin to focus more on the space victory or domination victory, capturing even more land for myself. It´s really hard to be everyones friend, cus someone will always be someones enemy.

You only need two or three people to like you. Just kill all those opposed. :goodjob:

There you go. This quote is straight to the point and dead accurate. There's not much more I can say that could add to this.

I usually tend to go for a diplo victory for kicks, and end up winning. If they oppose with me, they are dead.
