What new games should I get?

I do have EU III and I never could understand it. Way too complicated. But total war, hmm. I might consider that.
 
Starcraft 2.

Elemental War of Magic is in beta, that you can buy into.

We have had several EUIII AARs here in All Other Games, and a Paradox Thread where you are more than welcome to ask questions. The wikia is a good place to start too though it is not complete:

EUIII does have a steep learning curve but is much easier to understand once you get over the initial hump.

Give EU3 another try, it is a great game once you learn it. The Paradox fourm is great for asking questions.

If you like city building Dawn of Discovery is fun.
 
I never really found EU3 that complex for some reason. Sure, it's not the kind of game where you learn everything in 5 minutes, but a quick glance over the wiki so you understand the basic features, and a sensible choice of nation for your first game (I went for Mecklenburg IIRC, but other good starts include Portugal or England), and it shouldn't be that hard to work out what's going on.

I'll second the advice for the TW series, though I'd stay away from the later ones. Empire and Medieval 2 aren't bad, but their predecessors are far superior (and cheaper ;)).
 
Hearts of Iron is a good one to start out with, and there's a great AAR for beginners somewhere on the HoI2 forums.
 
I never read the actual thing, because when I got the game the pictures didn't work.. which help alot :\. But I guess Naval warfare isn't as important as Germany, save for Subs, but it seems as though he didn't talk about that at all.
 
He was going to when he was going to invade Britain, but he was busy and never got around to it.
 
DEFINITELY get Total War games if you haven't yet...

Especially TW: Eras (RTW bundle I think) and MTW2
