To clear up the title, both me and Gamezrule are leading this SG. This is the first in (hopefully) a series of SGs focusing on the C3C Conquest Scenarios.

SparGamez1: Phoenicia (Mesopotamia)

Mod: Mesopotamia Conquest (The one that comes with the game)
Mod Description: Mesopotamia is the "cradle of civilization" and was home to all seven of the "Great Wonders of the Ancient World." The map stretches from the mountains of Greece east to the hills of Persia and south to the Nile river. The game ends as soon as all seven great wonders have been built, or when a side amasses 5500 VP, or after 160 turns -- whichever happens first. Victory points awarded for completing wonders are doubled in this scenario.
Civilization: Phoenicia
Starting Techs: Pottery, Woodworking, and Sailing
Difficulty: Monarch
Rotation: 5 Turns Each

Roster:
Sparthage, Gamezrule, Aukrest, pol1, Cheeseburger, and Bowsling

Current Save is HERE

Planning For Next Turn:
Spoiler :
Looking forward to SparGamez2!

Current Situation:
Spoiler :
WE WIN A WONDER VICTORY!

Okay, I got the starting save and here is our starting position...

We currently have in our starting army:

3 settlers
4 workers
5 warriors
2 curraghs

We need to develop some sort of gameplan as to how to approach and win this game. Clearly, the Conquests need to be played differently then a regular game. Also, I feel that our settlers could all be placed someplace better. Waiting for some input before I do anything.

Also just noticed that SparGamez and SG go together.

My Ideas:
Current Settler: Move 1 tile NE and Settle
Central Settler: Move 1 tile NE to get better view
Northern Settler: Move to the visible NE mountain for view
Warrior: Branch out for exploration. Go for the goody huts!
Boat (Curragh): Explore

lurker's comment: First, what are the traits for Phoenicia? And secondly, my plan of action would be to rush Egypt (Egypt has easily the best starting location...I've won this Conquest with them). The Nile is such a great wonder spamming tool, ya might even move the palace there...

lurker's comment: this looks interesting... checking in for lurker status

lurker's comment: how are all seven of the "Great Wonders of the Ancient World" located in Mesopotamia? they aren´t...

and is moving settlers around to get a view really such a good idea if you already see quite a few ok spots? but then, i don´t know anything about the conquest scenarios and have never played any of them.

The map is really of Mesopotamia, Egypt, Asia Minor (Turkey), and Greece. Did I miss anything?

My Ideas:
Current Settler: Move 1 tile NE and Settle

Don't move the active settler NE to settle. If you settle in place, you get the wheat immediately and the fish and dyes on expansion. If you move 1 NE, you won't get the wheat or fish until the expansion, and you'll have no tiles with even 2 food in the first 9.

Don't move the settlers to look around. If you want to look, use the warriors with them, and then get the settlers where you want them ASAP.

I say all settle in place except for the northern most settler, and have him move south.

But if we move the North settler south one, then we will be able to shift units in one turn. (Remember your lessons from SGFN-08 where you settled 2 cities too far apart.) ;)

just curious - why not move the northern settler up one NW... or do rivers not work the same way in this mod?

I agree with this idea. :)

Sparthage, thou hath not answered my question yet, when thou hath, I shalt play. ;)

What question?

@ Cheeseburger: I can have you play last, between me and Gamez. So, if you're willing to listen to our plan (which will be outlined on the front page), you can play. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to post them or send me or Gamez a PM. Welcome on board.

We're full now if you join, Cheeseburger. Gamez, you can play now.

Don't worry, fellow Michigander :D , you can play an SG at a higher level since we will be here to guided your steps and correct your mistakes, and by the end of the game, you will (hopefully) master Monarch. ;)

EDIT: Where to place the northernmost city, Sparthage. If you had answered that, I would have played loonnnggggg ago. ;)
