There's a break on in the Arcadia PBEM.

So I thought I'd organise another PBEM game in the meantime.

I'm thinking 7 players normal speed, random civs, no tech trading on a standard sized Fractal map. Huts on (so scouts don't suck), events on (bit of randomness), barbs on.

Who's in? Next 6 takers get dibs.

I'm in the UK and we should go West from there in the turn order.

I play my turns as soon as I get them unless I am hopelessly drunk.

I've only played MP a few times (and PBEM once). Single player games I play Emperor but have won a few times on Immortal (peaceful victory types mainly).

EDIT2: Noble level so the barbs aren't too bad? Would go up to monarch though if that is the majority verdict.

I'l get started when we have 7 players.
 
OK we have 2 Hawkwind fans at least then!

Hawklord is in.

If we don't get another 2 players within 24 hours or so I'm ok going with 5 or 6 players total.

We will convert everyone eventually to the Church of Hawkwind!

Other things to decide: Vasslas (yay or nay) - only effect is colonies (can't create them if vassals is off). You don't get overseas colonial maintenance if they are off either. It aslo prevents a UN win (I like keeping the UN on though cos some of the resolutions can be fun e.g. banning nukes).

Sea level - I'll go high unless we get another player or 2. Otherwise I don't mind normal or low (or random). Low sea level = more land available.

It's gonna be a fractal map so unpredictable. Isolate starts are possible but that's not bad for a no tech trading game (although could be a bit boring I suppose).
 
as am I. Im fairly new to MP, having only played two turns so far ;)

Soooo Im thinking to defer most decisions to those more experienced, however Im kinda for keeping as many options in as possible. So Id vote yea to Vassals.
 
Vassals would only be useful for making colonies though. There will be no AI and you can't become a vassal of a human player. EDIT: And winning via diplo of course.

What does everyone else think?
 
Arcadia is the first pbem I've played on civ 4 so I don't know what is good and what isn't. It's the same for everybody so nI don't think it matters too much. If it proves a problem we'll know for future games. Try it and see.
 
I've given a free vote to everyone about vassals.

Arcadia was balanced resources I'm gonna try without that I think.

Hopefully it is easy to set up a PBEM game ;)

I don't know if THX1138 is going to register here to post or post via me by proxy. I'll pass everyones email to each other anyway once we start (and to every spam vendor too, of course ;)).

THX made the standard noob error of posting the save to the next player before he pressed the red button (I did that too!).

Hopefully it's winging it's way to Hercules90 next.
 
I'm not sure if I turned tech trading off!
